Zaji (ザジ) is a ninja from Konohagakure who was placed in the Surprise Attack Division of the Allied Shinobi Forces army.
Personality
Zaji is depicted as very confident in his abilities to the point where he will boast about it. He is also shown as impulsive and often acts without thinking over the given situation. These traits however, could be due to the fact that he is inexperienced in war and still a little naive.
Abilities
As a sensor type shinobi, he can sense persons through their chakra within a certain range of himself. He has also demonstrated great knowledge despite his age, which was shown when he recognized Pakura and Gari.
Part II
Shinobi World War Arc
Zaji is placed in the Surprise Attack Division during the Fourth Great Shinobi World War, and acts as its sensor. When the team lands into enemy territory their captain assigned Zaji the task of surveillance along with Hoheto. He then boast that he was assigned to the team because of his skills, Ittan who seems more experienced in war however, reprimands him telling him never to let his guard down in battle.
While on surveillance duty Zaji quickly realizes however, that something was interfering with his ability to sense properly but he could still tell someone was coming. When it turns out to be a collapsed Muta, Zaji rushes out to help him and is taken hostage by Muta who is being controlled by Sasori from the shadows. As Deidara detonates the clay explosive that they filled Muta's jar with, Kankurō acts quickly enough to save Zaji from the explosion that was caused. He is slightly injured but even more shocked when he sees his fellow Konohagakure ninja Ranka and Tokuma who are also being controlled had attacked them. He also alerts everyone to Shin attacking from above them. During the battle he remains together with Kiri and some injured Shinobi in the protective barrier.
After Deidara used Shin as bomb, Kiri was confused what happened outside to which Zaji assured him that everyone is still alive. After the battle, as the Suprise Attack Division advances, they walk into Zabuza, Haku, Gari and Pakura, while riding on Sai's ink birds. After Sai's first attack, Omoi tells Zaji to light the beacon, which gives a Signal to Kakashi and his Division. Shortly afterwards, Haku uses his Demonic Ice Crystal Mirrors to knock everyone off the ink birds and destroy it. On the ground Zaji recognizes Gari and Pakura and says that they all have a Kekkei Genkai, to which Zabuza says that he doesn't.
Trivia
- In chapter 520, on page 19, his hair is black, not white. This however was corrected in subsequent chapters.
