This is the memorial of the Yamanaka, Nara and Akimichi clan that stands in Konohagakure as a testament of the close-knit relationship between the three clans. Engraved on it are the symbols of the respective clans which commemorates the pact that the three clans made to work together, protect each other and Konoha.

They wear the earrings so that they never forget their oath, as it's there whispering in it into their ear.
