Shikamaru opens a scroll and lays it on the ground. He then performs the required hand seals and then taps his foot in the middle of the scroll, which summons a large amount of water that covers a wide area. Shikamaru used this to channel Kakuzu's Lightning Release: False Darkness back at him.
