Utakata (ウタカタ) was a shinobi from Kirigakure and the jinchūriki of the Six-Tailed Slug. The Six-Tails has been captured and sealed by Akatsuki, causing Utakata's death when the beast was extracted.

Utakata fought using soap bubble (しゃぼん玉, shabondama) ninjutsu from the Bubble-line (バブル系, Baburu-kei) of ninjutsu.

• Utakata (泡沫) refers to bubbles on the surface of a liquid. Idiomatically, it also means "transient," "ephemeral."
• Utakata's sash in the splash page was red, but in the 3rd art book he was shown to have a yellow sash.
