[edit] Village Heads
Please mark village heads using classification, ninja rank is not the place for that. Hokage, and so on all belong in Classification. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Oct 17, 2009 @ 10:09 (UTC)
Seems like a rank to me- it's not just one village's title or anything, it's a level at which ninja may achieve the rank of. I don't see a purpose in removing it from the rank page. ZeroSD (talk) 10:15, October 17, 2009 (UTC)
It's not a ninja rank. Academy, Genin, Chunin, Special, Jonin, Kage. Those are the only ninja ranks there have ever been. ANBU is a separate set of ranks, Hokage and such are additional classifications for the heads of certain ninja village. Village Head is closer in purpose to Hokage than it is to Kage. Also remember you can be a Village Head without even being a ninja, how is that a ninja rank? ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Oct 17, 2009 @ 10:21 (UTC)
- Scratch that last statement. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Oct 17, 2009 @ 10:23 (UTC)
Hokage is a specific subdivision of kage, ninja village head is the rank of being leader of a ninja village. Hanzo, Pain, Orochimaru etc.. These ninja have a rank within their villages as much as anyone else, and that rank is neither kage nor jonin- it's leader.
People also complain when they get lumped in with Kage, it's there for a reason.ZeroSD (talk) 10:51, October 17, 2009 (UTC)
Read over Village Head, it says nothing about Village Head being a rank, It's not listed under the Shinobi Organisational System. Village Head has never been stated to be a rank, a Village Head is a Shinobi who has a separate rank (or even no rank) and happens to be the leader of a village. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Oct 18, 2009 @ 10:53 (UTC)
-a Village Head is a Shinobi who has a separate rank (or even no rank) and happens to be the leader of a village.- If someone is leader of a village, they hardly have no rank, do they? There are several cases where village leader is the only rank someone has, and one no more 'happens' to be leader of a village than one 'happens' to be a Kage.
Leader is a rank in itself. Some leaders are called Kage, and some aren't. It's useful for us to have a label for those who aren't and the village head page mentions it's the highest rank in a village, hence it should be on the page. ZeroSD (talk) 10:58, October 18, 2009 (UTC)
- The village head page does NOT mention it's the highest rank in a village, it says "the village head is the highest-ranking, and usually the most powerful, shinobi of a village [...]". It says the SHINOBI is the highest ranking ninja, not that Village Head is a rank. There is a thorough difference in grammar. The Village Head has an actual Ninja Rank such as Kage or whatnot, or none for villages that don't have ranks to give out. We have classification to label Village Heads already. I'm through discussing this, no user has backed you up, no source has stated village head is a rank, no information on this wiki states that village head is a rank. Decide it via consensus, take it to a talkpage and have other users chime in. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Oct 18, 2009 @ 11:12 (UTC)
- "SHINOBI is the highest ranking ninja," "The Village Head has an actual Ninja Rank such as Kage or whatnot, or none for villages that don't have ranks to give out. " Well, which is it, they have a rank or don't they? It seems to me it's just a real a position as kage. You don't actually need a source spelling out "This rank that the people have is called X"- 'village head' is what we call it for our convenience, but it's clearly a rank. "no user has backed you up," No user has backed you up either, it's just the two of us and whoever put it in in the first place. I think you're making a semantic argument when the rank self-evidently exists, and you're the one making the alteration to the page. I'm fine for opening the talk page and leaving it to consensus, but it shouldn't be messed with until consensus is reached, not just edit warring it. ZeroSD (talk) 15:53, October 18, 2009 (UTC)
