User pages are for users who has contributed to the wiki. When you have proven that you are a serious user, you may have a user page. Jacce 21:34, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
- It's not really just about contributing, it's about cruft. Dozens of new users c ome to the wiki creating a new userpage, a few of them contribute to the wiki, and even less of them actually stick around. All those userpages build up and most of them serve little purpose. So on the topic of cruft, we clean out any userpage which isn't relevant (fancruft, personal pages, not relevant to being an editor), isn't about a contributing user, and for the most part one liners get cleaned out to.
- Conversely a userpage isn't always needed. Jacce doesn't have one even though he's the wiki's 3rd sysop, TheUltimate3 doesn't even use his userpage as a userpage, some of our best contributors never created a userpage (afact, only a few of our absolute top editors ever created themselves a userpage). And as for my userpage, I've been on Wikia for 2 years on multiple wiki, that userpage is actually something I created some time ago (I was userpageless for quite some time while contributing) and honestly it's extremely out of date.
- I find that the best editors are the ones that don't bother with personal userpages right away, most great contributors jump right into contributing and don't give userpages a thought till something pops the idea into their head. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Feb 15, 2009 @ 06:11 (UTC)
Reverts are not done "to piss [you] off", they are done by a user when another user's edits look like they do not belong on the wiki. If you get reverted take the time to show you were actually trying to help the wiki (to many people make bad edits and get reverted, the ones that actually come back are the ones that become good contributors) and look at your edits to see if there was anything wrong, if you can't find out what was wrong or think your edit was an improvement to the wiki then ask the reverter why they reverted you. That discussion will either help you learn something about the wiki and how it deals with it's content or will reveal a mistake made or a wiki pattern that could use improvement.
For example, this edit you made. We deleted all categories like that ages ago, instead we annotate pages with semantic properties. Eventually we'll have a nice infobox to put on those pages, though I may need to do more experiments on the Soul Eater wiki till I can create a good infobox here. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Feb 15, 2009 @ 06:44 (UTC)
- Categorization is not necessary, as I just said we deleted those categories and replaced then with annotations. In that edit you made, if you took a look at the two lines below it you'll see that the page was already tagged. Ninjutsu are annotated with [[Jutsu classification::Ninjutsu| ]] and Fire Release jutsu are annotated with [[Jutsu type::Fire Release| ]]. This allows us to generate lists like The part "|" of the query was not understood.
There really is no connection between the Narutopedia and the Naruto Fanon wiki, the community here has made strong points about deleting anything fan related. Adding that kind of thing would first take a good long forum discussion. Btw, that "Please Reply A.S.A.P." is getting annoying. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Feb 15, 2009 @ 22:56 (UTC)
