Re: File:Pein Rikudō.png

There isn't but it's more a case of logic. There is no logical reason to link the page in it's Japanese name if the page isn't also in it's Japanese name. It just comes off to me as a dumb thing to do for little to no reason.--TheUltimate3 Allied Shinobi Forces Symbol (talk) 12:00, August 2, 2012 (UTC)

Like I said, it comes off to me as dumb. My opinion. Plus it has always been a problem for me, I'm just hella lazy and haven't actually done anything about it until now.--TheUltimate3 Allied Shinobi Forces Symbol (talk) 12:03, August 2, 2012 (UTC)
I've already told you. The only reason I haven't done them before is because I'm too lazy/busy to make the conscience effort to do it. If I happen to come across it however, I will make the edits. They are pointless redirects or renaming. I will edit them as I see them.
Also, you have an unusual attachment to your edits. You need to grow out of that. Such is the way of the Wikiverse. Your edits are not your own. They are free game for everyone.--TheUltimate3 Allied Shinobi Forces Symbol (talk) 21:39, August 7, 2012 (UTC)
Titans here we go.
It is pointless because the articles are not named as such. The article we are currently fighting over is named, at the top of the page "Summoning: Impure World Reincarnation", not Edo Tensei. Using a redirect is first misleading, and second unnecessary.
And I honestly don't care if you're going to get butt hurt over this. I also don't care if you feel threatened or whatever "woe is me" your comment was filled with on my Talk Page. If I see the redirects, I will make the corrections. I don't care who uploads it. If I see it, I will edit it. The world doesn't revolve around you. You just made yourself a unfortunate target with your love of uploads so more likely than not, any image I stumble across will be, surprise surprise, yours.
Summoning: Impure World Reincarnation. Edo Tensei. Just so this gets drilled in one more time, which one of these ends up as a redirect? The one that does is not the one to be used.--21:52, August 7, 2012 (UTC)
And to cover my ass, the current picture we are fighting over, the Sasori one, I stumbled across it on complete accident when I happened on Sasori's page, and thought for a moment that that picture was his manga image. You weren't targeted. I wasn't digging through the uploads trying to find your upload. I stumbled on that by accident, and I made a correction edit.--TheUltimate3 Allied Shinobi Forces Symbol (talk) 21:55, August 7, 2012 (UTC)

You are a young editor, so I can forgive you for being ignorant of such things. But this wiki has long had a Naming Policy, it may not be written because goddamn do I miss the days where people wouldn't make mountains out of molehills, where naming of things went like this:

Characters use Western Order
Techniques are translated literally, with the exception of kekkei genkais, and special cases (Rasengan, the Deva Path's abilities), which is still technically open for discussion but currently is as stated.
Villages untranslated, (Konohagakure, ect), other locations translated (Valley of the End, Great Naruto Bridge, ect)

The explanation for the technique naming is simple: Having them in Japanese directly alienates people who do not watch/read Naruto in Japanese and thus comes off as strange and confusing. We didn't translate them to official English because names would then change depending on location. Direct Translation solves this on two fronts: Stays faithful to Kishimoto's names and allows for easier editing for English speaking users. (And a reminder: English Language wiki. Sorry if you speak another language but /shrug)

"But TheUltimate3", you will most likely say because I expect no less from you, "if that's true you should add it to the Naming Policy!" And you are correct, and I'm in the process of clarifying that now. I'm sure I've said this before, before you showed up, most of our policies and culture has been discussed, declared, and used without much formalities and goddamn do I miss those days. I would thank you for giving us a reason to do our jobs right, but I expect you will use that as validation to cause me even more stress with whatever antics catch your fancy in the future.

Then by all means, be wrong. I don't care. Wave your banner in clear defiance! Embrace the Heresy! But don't come to me when I notice something and make an edit. I will not back down because I do something you don't like. That's not how the world works. Getting pissy doesn't mean your edits golden nuggets that are free from being altered. It's about time you stop acting like a child and accept that.--TheUltimate3 Allied Shinobi Forces Symbol (talk) 22:35, August 7, 2012 (UTC)

Speysider, no-one has come up to you and ordered you to stop uploading images with specific text or threatened to ban you.

Image pages, just like articles are used and looked at by other people. When you upload an image you have no rights over what happens with the image and the image page afterwords. Image pages have the same level of ownership to the author as articles... none. Frankly, since they're just copied images rather than original text you've got even less rights over them.

We aren't currently enforcing any naming policy over images, that's why no-one has threatened to block you if you keep uploading images with romaji instead of the names we use in the naming policy.

So when someone comes along and just edits the image page to clean it up and make the links conform to our naming policy for whatever reason. Since it follows a policy we're enforcing elsewhere, improves the consistency of the wiki whether we are enforcing consistency or not, and you have no ownership over the page. You have no right to object to people going and cleaning up image pages to fit the naming policy.

Frankly you're the one throwing personal opinions into this. We have a naming policy that was based on a consensus formed by ages of discussion between dozens of contributors to the wiki. And then you go and decide to use something different than what the agreement for the wiki was just because we're not actively enforcing that policy on image pages. Favouring personal opinion over related consensus just because you can and then making a fuss about it, that is being disruptive.

Signature policy

Hi. Which specific restriction in the Signature Policy is in question?

  • My username is in the signature
  • It should link back to my userpage (albeit blank) and talkpage.
  • I'm using only 1 colour unless you count the blankpage hyperlink colour and blue talkpage colour in which case I'm still using less than 2 colours.
  • I have no pictures.
  • Timestamp is default and automatic I think.
  • I haven't used any Magic words.
  • No line breaks.
  • No nested super or subscripts; only consecutive like yours. I believe this policy is to avoid having users changing the page structure drastically such as having a long staircase pushing other user posts downwards. (It's not my intention to cause such a disruption.)
  • No background or border colours.

Thanks for taking an interest in my signature and I'm willing to correct any valid faults that may arise.

Ageci (talk) 13:14, August 2, 2012 (UTC)

My signature directly quoted is this: [[User:Acegi|Ageci]] [[User talk:Acegi|(talk)]].
Pay particular attention that there are no nested levels unlike this violation: normal levelsup level 1sup level 2 (nested)
My signature only includes this: sup level 1normal levelsub level 1.
Nested is the key word in the policy. What this means is that you cannot have sup within a sup to create sup/sub levels greater than one. Each sup/sub tag is immediately closed before a new sup/sub tag is opened. As I have shown you, I do not have anything nested; only consecutive (one after another) ie 1 sup then normal then sub. To give an example, this is as normal as writing: H2O2.
My reference to your signature is that an inefficient person might write AB|C which would visually be the same as AB|C. In the first case, multiple consecutive sup tags are used but it is still valid and not nested as per the policy. I hope I'm not too provocative in my explanation. My intention is only to clarify the difference between nested and consecutive nothing more.
If you're still interested, feel free to test out my wiki code to verify I am correct in a preview. As I have explained above, this nesting policy is to avoid people altering the visual structure of multiple posts to push other posts further down with many sup/sub nested levels. Now if you wish to modify the policy to prevent consecutive or multiple sup and sub uses then I will comply and amend it in line with the new policy change. Thank you again for your interest.
Ageci (talk) 14:06, August 2, 2012 (UTC)
It's ok! At least I have explained it already so for future reference I can copy paste what I've written for any other eager users.

Re: Image stalking :/

  • 1) I'm not stalking your images.
  • 2) I've already told you, if I see inconsistency, I will change it. I'm not however going to dive into the image sea looking for them. If I happen to stumble across them, I will make the edit.

Lets take a good look at how 1 and 2 are related. You have, in the past 3 to 4 months, made overwhelmingly made the most uploads of any one user. In doing so, the pool of images that I may at any point in time be the ones you've uploaded increase. I'm not stalking your uploads, you threw a million of them at me and told me to dodge them.--TheUltimate3 Allied Shinobi Forces Symbol (talk) 12:32, August 9, 2012 (UTC)

Form jutsu rank

I believe I have found a workaround for that, even though it's a bit cumbersome. When you edit a jutsu article with a form, if you choose to preview the edit, the page will turn to source mode instead of actually showing a preview. When in source mode, just delete the entire line of jutsu rank. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 23:06, August 9, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Summary

First off, please stop saying "annoy people" when you're the only one complaining, unless you're comprised of a legion. That being said, I'm not entirely sure what you're on about again, but if you're referring to the fact that I removed the episode air date, let me isolate this bit:

I've asked you before to not add it until the summary is written as it leaves a blank white space on the homepage due to how the template for "recent episodes" are set up. That shouldn't be a hard request to grant should it?

Along with that, you should read the spoiler policy, you're to create the episode articles after the episode has been released and not even 15 minutes before. Articles have been deleted in the past for doing that.

Otherwise that that, if my edit summaries have provoked you however, I am truly sorry. I am naturally provocative in nature ;D--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol(talk) 12:26, August 16, 2012 (UTC)

Just a note

For the Anime-Manga Differences page, the reason for that edit was to help prevent confusion with Sasori and Kankurō's initial battle and later battle in the Shinobi World War Arc and I normally do not list an arc like that for the difference guide. -Adv193 (talk) 19:39, August 19, 2012 (UTC)

Also keep an eye out on that IP that has been doing Arc navigation addition as that person is clearly only doing towards the anime's timeline and not the manga's timeline and I had to do some cleanup work. Though I did send a message I don't know if this person cares. -Adv193 (talk) 19:48, August 19, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Enough

Oh, I'm very sorry you feel that way, because that wasn't my intention. Could you possibly please explain to me why exactly you want it to be moved? Maybe that way I'll understand where you're coming from. As for not getting involved in what you do, I'm sorry but we work on the same wiki, that's an occupational hazard lol. Any way, all the best and looking forward to your response.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol(talk) 14:54, August 23, 2012 (UTC)

I is also an admin so I feel I can chime in on this. Spey does in fact have the right to request a page move, as is everyone's right and Cerez cannot just remove a request given. It follows the same thing as all Talk Pages. Now that being said, there the one that appears to be the problem is that Earth Sandwich technique or whatever it is called. Now the file name for that one is perfectly fine, and (logically) not a page that needs a move which would appear to be simply that it is in English. Now with that being said, the final decision here lies with Jacce as it is his decision to follow up on the Request.--TheUltimate3 Allied Shinobi Forces Symbol (talk) 15:04, August 23, 2012 (UTC)
I removed it because I don't really want to create an argument on Jacce's request section. Speysider has done this more than once (request an image to be moved) for no apparent reason, then states that it's up to Jacce to decide. Now I don't think that's fair reasoning because Jacce doesn't know why the page is being moved but will do it in good faith. Which is why I asked for his reason which I highly doubt will be a valid one even when it's done being concocted.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol(talk) 15:10, August 23, 2012 (UTC)
@Direct Response to Spey: Reasons do not concern me good sir. I've already said the final decision likes with Jacce because it was your request to him.--TheUltimate3 Allied Shinobi Forces Symbol (talk) 15:16, August 23, 2012 (UTC)

Oh, I see. Could you answer one more question then? How are "long" file names an issue? Does it break the wiki or cause any issues? Last time I checked, using romaji names made images harder to find especially when they have macrons and you're adding them to articles, based on personal experience. By the way the first part is a response to Ulti, not you. Mayhaps I should have noted that before.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol(talk) 15:17, August 23, 2012 (UTC)

@Direct Response to Cerez: I see. If that is the case then you are free to let Jacce know of your concerns, in ways that don't become disruptive naturally.
@To both Cerez and Speysider: I suggest this be the end of this little disagreement. Best we not muddy the waters on this, the last day of my internship with constantly checking a anime wikia.--TheUltimate3 Allied Shinobi Forces Symbol (talk) 15:20, August 23, 2012 (UTC)

The images are not always readily available the way there are on the Special:NewFiles page. Any way, thanks for responding and far be it from me to keep you from more important tasks. Images (SandroHc)

I'm not going to really get involved with it as it's none of my business, but the person did it explicitly stating that the images were "compressed". Usually when people just reupload the image it looks like this same size and everything. Now I don't know whether or not the compression is useful (I remember it being done to another user's .svg files) which is why I think the user should be asked why exactly they're doing it. Up until recently, I believed the renaming of images to romaji names were pointless, then I was told why it was being done. The same courtesy should be extended to that user. As for the image policy quote, everyone here should already know that part of the policy is archaic, so I'm not sure what bearing it has here.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol(talk) 12:47, August 31, 2012 (UTC)
