[edit] Re: Jutsu Infobox
Shrug/ the field exists for a reason right?..--AlienGamer--Talk (contribs)-- 18:39, October 2, 2009 (UTC)
- Well, ya maybe...But well it will inform ppl, which name which we r going by, our structure, etc...And i still think dantman created the field for a reason...And evn in the older format we had it that way..Literal meaning→Kanji→Romanji→eng tv, Viz, etc...--AlienGamer--Talk (contribs)-- 18:43, October 2, 2009 (UTC)
Umm...I'm not that good with references because I save those references for you just you reedit again. Kunoichi101 (talk) 03:34, October 3, 2009 (UTC)Kunoichi101Kunoichi101 (talk) 03:34, October 3, 2009 (UTC)
Well, I was doing that, because 'Six Paths of Pain' and 'Deva Path' are listed as jutsu, not as characters. So if someone goes to deva path, and wants to see HIS jutsu he used in the series under his infobox, they will be able to. same with six paths of pain. that make more sense and sound good? or would u rather me revert?--SkyFlicker (talk) 16:55, October 3, 2009 (UTC)
That was for the same reason as well, so users can better see and sort jutsu that are related to the 6 paths of pain, and not to nagato himself. Im basically 'tree'ing it, so that once the parent/child stuff takes effect, it will be easier for people to navigate. Sound good? Or still want just 'Deva Path'?--SkyFlicker (talk) 17:00, October 3, 2009 (UTC)
As I just wrote on his... once this feature of parent/child comes into effect, the 'users' field isnt going to allow the jutsu to be nested correctly. since all of the paths are individually considered jutsu, and the 6 paths are considered jutsu, they need to be nested as jutsu in the 'parent jutsu' field, with 'nagato' being the 'user'--SkyFlicker (talk) 17:06, October 3, 2009 (UTC)
Does 'media' need to be filled out for all infoboxes? because if you put 'anime episode xx', seems like people would know it was anime?--SkyFlicker (talk) 19:17, October 3, 2009 (UTC)
Sure thing--SkyFlicker (talk) 19:21, October 3, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Image captions
Simant, the infobox already has the ability to do captions. There is actually a reason why the Image param uses a multi-line textbox rather than something simple. The image param accepts multiple images each on it's own line, you can override the default image size by placing a size after a : and you can give the image a caption by putting one after a ;. See it's use on w:c:souleater:Shadow☆Star. So the infobox basically supports multiple images in the same infobox, each with it's own optional custom size and caption. Much more flexible than extra infobox fields. Course most of the time these are not needed, it's better to avoid them if you don't have a reason to use them. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Oct 9, 2009 @ 09:51 (UTC)

- Move it to Naruto: Original arcs? Then you'd treat it like all the other arc articles. ~SnapperTo 17:57, October 13, 2009 (UTC)
Since the paths are using the jutsu template, that's the only way to get their jutsu to show up in their infobox. ~SnapperTo 05:18, October 18, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Advanced templates
*cough* Simant, could you break down what this is all about. I can barely understand bad programming, but I have a strong feeling you are doing something horribly horribly wrong. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Oct 17, 2009 @ 20:00 (UTC)
- A self closed <nowiki/> tag can be used as a whitespace barrier. If you place it in between the content and the start or end of a parserfunction parameter it can act as a barrier that will prevent the whitespace in between itself and the content. In essence {{#if:{{{foo|}}}|<nowiki/> only}} will retain the space before "only". Also, it is unnecessary to place a #switch block inside of a #ifeq, what you did could have been handled using the #switch itself. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Oct 17, 2009 @ 20:25 (UTC)
- We could switch over to a set of from-to fields in the form instead of a list of chapter numbers if you're sure we don't have anything that skips chapters or includes older chapters or whatever. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Oct 20, 2009 @ 21:26 (UTC)

Ask templates are screwy, you can't pass manual parameters to it, the template only gets the values of properties you ask for using the ? in the later part of the #ask. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Oct 23, 2009 @ 00:28 (UTC)

OK. Soon I will start and look at the list with episodes and will add pictures where doesn't have or are not good.--Donatelo (talk) 13:58, October 18, 2009 (UTC)
- What did you mean by "one is being slow"?
- There is another problem. When I tried to upload new version of a picture with high resolution - the uploaded picture is with the old resolution or even the quality of the new picture is the same as the old one => that is why I upload new file and not replacing the old file version. Don't know if you understood me. :)
- And what did you mean by "*Poke* File:Sealed Bomb Square Release.JPG, whitespace"? Could you explain it a little bit simpler. :)
- I am bothering you a little more than usual - sorry about that.--Donatelo (talk) 22:05, October 26, 2009 (UTC)

- In the end, I will not upload new version, because there is a difference between file history, episode infobox, and actual image page and I don't like this and maybe the other users as well. I will make new file and recommend the old file for deletion - Not Used. Is that right?--Donatelo (talk) 19:55, November 1, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Titleicons in infobox
Now that I think about it, I had a reason for moving the icons into the infobox. I wanted to start to get rid of all the titleicons because they're just not a good thing to use. Unreliable css, and it completely screws up when the wiki uses sitenotices (and we try to force that to show), they caused some big overlap problems on a page or two. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Oct 24, 2009 @ 04:49 (UTC)
- Aye, moving all the icons into the infobox is fine, that's the best context for them. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Oct 24, 2009 @ 17:24 (UTC)
- Two icons is fine if it's easier to do than trying to eliminate the extra one, it doesn't hurt much. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Oct 24, 2009 @ 17:34 (UTC)
[edit] ~with~
Is it possible for you to make a "with" feature for the infobox, like (I assume) you did with the Puppet thing? I ask so we can but things were a character used a technique with another character, (Like Naruto and Shion Naruto and Shion's Super Chakra Rasengan, it would be listed as Naruto with Shion and all that jazz).--TheUltimate3 (talk) 00:01, October 25, 2009 (UTC)
- That's fine. As long as at some point, it's done and I can stop obsessing over it.--TheUltimate3 (talk) 00:09, October 25, 2009 (UTC)

- ^_^ You might want to actually look at the source code for that extension. It's a old (MW 1.7 old, right after they dropped PHP4 ugh) ugly extension that uses a tag (tags are bad for template coding), and produces lists, NOT simply resorting of a list in a flexible way. [edit] Re: Twin Rasengan
The translation I gave was hypothetical, based on my knowledge of Japanese and Kishimoto-sensei's naming conventions. The translation given on the Twin Rasengan page is... awkward at best. I don't know how the person who put it in got that name, it seems to be from one of the films or games, none of which I've seen or played, respectively.
In my opinion, the Twin Rasengan page should be merged with the Rasenrengan page, I see hardly any difference. I also think the Japanese given on the Twin Rasengan page is fancruft, made up by someone with just enough knowledge of Japanese to use an on-line dictionary.
Then again, since I don't know the films, nor the games, I cannot really say anything conclusive. I've heard weirder names from those. --ShounenSuki (talk | contribs) 22:53, November 2, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Image rationale
If the pic has a rationale, it is most likely that the up loader just made a mistake, so I suggest that you fix the mistakes so the pic gets the right info. If you can't fix it for some reason, like if the manga/anime isn't available at the moment, you could put a {{delete|reason: wrong info in rationale or something similar at the top, and just wait for an other user to fix it. If semantics worked the way we think it should, Adamantine Prison Wall would only be present in the first query. Instead, it is listed in all four. Based on these results, using ! will only exclude things with one value. Since Protection of the Eight Trigrams is tagged as Anime and Game, you want a query that excludes two values (something like [[Jutsu media::!Anime||Game]]). I couldn't find anything that does that at Help:Semantic search, so the only solution I can offer is to remove the Game tag. ~SnapperTo 04:17, November 8, 2009 (UTC)
- ! works, just not when there are two values for one parameter. It gets confused if there's more than one. ~SnapperTo 00:12, November 9, 2009 (UTC)
