Need a translation please

Hi, Shonensuki-san. I'm in need of your awesome and famous Japanese translating skills . Manga 540, what exactly did Ao say about Itachi's genjutsu? I'd be really grateful. Btw I really appreciate your work on the databooks, must not have been easy.

"Someone who can use a genjutsu to manipulate like this, while hidden at such a range that they're undetectable by our Sensor Division has to be someone of Itachi's level, but… To manipulate such a large number of people at the same time over such a vast range would be impossible, even for Itachi!" —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 11:56, March 31, 2012 (UTC)

Thank you so very much. I hope it won't be too much trouble if I were to come again for your help. FlyingRaijin (talk) 14:12, March 31, 2012 (UTC)

Hello again Shonensuki-san can you please translate where Itachi talks about Madara gaining new light in chap 386. Please? FlyingRaijin (talk) 13:49, April 1, 2012 (UTC)

"By stealing both eyes of his own younger brother, Madara obtained new light. And… the light of those eyes never failed again. An eternal Mangekyō Sharingan! It is said that by finding a new host, the eyes of his younger brother obtained eternal light… And not only that, but a change occurred as well. A new, characteristic dōjutsu was born in those eyes. However, the exchange of eyes could only be done within the clan. Besides, using this method didn't mean just anybody could obtain new power. This became clear from the history of abundant sacrifices that came after later…" これは その後の多くの犠牲の歴史の上に築かれた事実…」」, "Mizukara otōto no ryōme o ubaitotta no da. Madara wa aratana hikari o te ni ireta. Soshite… mō nido to sono me no hikari wa tojiru koto ga nakatta. Eien no Mangekyō Sharingan! —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 17:05, April 1, 2012 (UTC)

So is the "characteristic doujutsu" Rinnegan ? --Elveonora (talk) 20:34, April 1, 2012 (UTC)

The 'characteristic dōjutsu' could be anything: the Rinnegan, the eternal Mangekyō Sharingan itself, or a whole new technique entirely. I still think it referred to the eternal Mangekyō Sharingan itself. —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 20:41, April 1, 2012 (UTC)

He already mentioned it gives eternal light, thus it's a new technique or Rinnegan.

"An eternal Mangekyō Sharingan! This became clear from the history of abundant sacrifices that came after later" So trading MS eyes = EMS But for some reason, trading eyes did not ever give a new power. The part about "sacrifices", so they got EMS but not the new power and sacrificies were made to get it.

This sounds like Uchiha killed Senju to get Rinnegan to me (sorry if it's speculative) but the way it's worded. --Elveonora (talk) 21:03, April 1, 2012 (UTC)

He could be saying the 'characteristic dōjutsu' bit to either emphasise or to distinguish the eternal Mangekyō Sharingan from the normal Mangekyō Sharingan. The sacrifices bit is quite clearly about the eternal Mangekyō Sharingan —it's about how you have to take a fellow Uchiha's eyes to gain it, as no sacrifices are needed for the Rinnegan— so the 'characteristic dōjutsu' bit most likely is too. If it wasn't about that, either Itachi would have made it clearer, or Sasuke would have wondered what it was about. There is no foreshadowing here, really. —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 21:41, April 1, 2012 (UTC)

"A new, characteristic dōjutsu was born in those eyes. However, the exchange of eyes could only be done within the clan. Besides, using this method didn't mean just anybody could obtain new power. This became clear from the history of abundant sacrifices that came after later" He says that trading eyes did not always give new power. He is talking already about brothers taking Mangekyou Sharingan eyes to get Eternal. Not killing close ones to get Mangekyou, that's the point ; ) --Elveonora (talk) 21:48, April 1, 2012 (UTC)

Thank you once again. I think he's talking about the EMS' new design when he said a new characteristic dojutsu, that must have been the 'change' that occured, it's a characteristic dojutsu because no two EMS users could have the same EMS design. The sacrifiices part most likely means that not everybody gained new light, that is, not everyone could escape blindness through this method. If he was referring to gaining some new ability then it wouldn't be a sacrifice, would you consider it a sacrifice gaining freedom from blindness but not getting a new jutsu? It'll be more of a sacrifice if you took your clansmen eyes but still remained blind.
Anyways, its just my opinion.
This has nothing to do with the wikia but could you please tell me the Japanese of
  • Sage Technique Combination Barrier Ninjutsu: Red Sensory Electrifying Barrier
  • Lightning Sage
  • Barrier Unlocking Key Technique
  • Genjutsu Seal
  • Lightning Release: Electrifying Beat(as in beat of a drum)
  • Water Release: Three Headed Roaring Lion
  • Sage Technique: Inescapable Hair Bind
  • Cloaking Barrier Technique
  • Sage Technique: Lord of the Clouds
  • Demonic Illusion: Enslaving Feathers
  • Drum Sealing Method.
  • Clone Merging Technique
FlyingRaijin (talk) 22:30, April 1, 2012 (UTC)
  • The part "not only that" says that there's more than giving it eternal light so there would be no reason to refer to the same thing twice.
  • From the exchange of Mangekyou Sharingan, it's possible but not given to obtain the new power.
  • The last part states that the sacrifices were made specifically to get the new power.

So either Uchiha killed close ones to get MS and took eyes of their relative to get EMS in hope of getting this new power, or those that obtained an Eternal Mangekyou had to carry out some unknown sacrifice. --Elveonora (talk) 22:23, April 1, 2012 (UTC)

The sacrifices made for obtaining the eternal Mangekyō Sharingan are those whose eyes are taken and those who failed to obtain it. You shouldn't be thinking all too deeply about it. If there was any foreshadowing in this scene, it would have been far more obvious, like it was when Itachi told Sasuke about the third Mangekyō Sharingan wielder. —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 09:28, April 2, 2012 (UTC)

If you say so sensei, thank you. I still think there's more to it though, we are talking about Kishi here ; ) The way it's worded, that's it ...

  • If there was no new power or something, he could just drop it rigt after mention of "eternal new light" and without "and not only that"
  • About the last part, maybe you are right that he is talking about sacrifices of Uchiha killing close ones and relatives ripping out eyes.

Though it's worder like those already with EMS tried to gain new power somehow :/ Also "the third Mangekyou Sharingan wielder" is also questionable as Tobi has not shown any yet and with Madara dead. Hard to tell if Itachi was lying (as Kabuto said), was also deceived by Tobi, or he was not speaking literary.

Also sorry for taking your time, but these mysteries around Uchiha and all are only thing that still interest me. The plot is getting kinda predictable, there are still unanswered questions from before though. --Elveonora (talk) 15:21, April 2, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks once again Shonensuki-san, could you please do one more:

  • Sage Arts: Invisible Sensory Barrier Defence.

Yeah, I decided to go Kishi and use Sage Arts(the Japanese is Senpo right?) Instead of Sage Technique.

Btw I've noticed an interesting fact but it got shot down on the talk page. Remember when 30% of Itachi's chakra was put in a clone and made to fight Team Kakashi, in Chapter 260, the 'Itachi' placed Kakashi's clone under a genjutsu, next panel we see the clone in genjutsu and next panel it's grabbing 'Itachi' and holding him in place then Itachi says 'no wonder you're not affected by the genjutsu, this is a kage bushin' does that mean the clone was immune to genjutsu because it was a clone? Are clones immune to genjutsu?I sorta need a translation of what Itachi said Shonensuki-san.FlyingRaijin (talk) 23:15, April 3, 2012 (UTC)

Its possible that Itachi is saying clones are immune right? The genjutsu has no effect, doesn't that mean genjutsu doesn't work? There's only one way to prove this; when Bee said perfect jinchuuriki are immune to genjutsu, was it the same Japanese words as Itachi's statement?FlyingRaijin (talk) 12:20, April 4, 2012 (UTC)

Of course nobody is immune but there are certain people that can genjutsu of the highest class. Anyways, isn't it good enough to be mentioned in the Narutopedia's Shadow clone article? Btw Shonensuki-san, would you agree that nothing new comes from Kishimoto-sensei anymore? I mean Izanami has been predicted for about 3 years and he just does exactly that.FlyingRaijin (talk) 18:17, April 4, 2012 (UTC)

hey Shonensuki-san, please can you translate what A said about minato in 541? thanks--FlyingRaijin (talk) 19:26, April 7, 2012 (UTC) Thanks again. --FlyingRaijin (talk) 15:53, April 14, 2012 (UTC)

When Tobi took Kabuto undeground to see the great flower and the living Hashirama clone in chapter 521, Tobi said its 'just from cells I took during OUR battle', there is no reason for him to lie to Kabuto who has Edo Tensei Madara, that he is Madara, does that mean he's somehow Madara? and Kabuto said in chapter 561 'I doubt the'fake MAdara' will act as planned' again supporting that Tobi is somehow Madara, it may just be a mistranslation which is why I'm now asking for the translation PLEAse.--FlyingRaijin (talk) 16:53, April 20, 2012 (UTC)

THis is why you are an invaluable pillar here at Narutopedia thank you so much--FlyingRaijin (talk) 01:49, April 24, 2012 (UTC)

http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Fire_Sealing_Method its says tailor for fire release ninjutsu but then says an effective technique to circumvent any secondary damage an enemy technique might cause. does that mean it seals only fire techniques or other kinds of ninjutsu? this narutopedia page was gotten from http://mangahelpers.com/forum/showthread.php/47905-Gottheim-s-Databook-II-translations I don't know if you have access to the original japanese databook, if you do, could you please help me translate this and no it wasnt in your second databook translation--FlyingRaijin (talk) 19:48, April 24, 2012 (UTC)

Traitor Hyuga

In chapter 461, When Ao and Danzo are talking, Danzo mentions a traitor Hyuga and Byuakugan existing outside of Konoha, is this a mistranslation? TricksterKing (talk) 12:35, March 31, 2012 (UTC)

Thank you, it did seem like useful trivia for Ao's page.--TricksterKing (talk) 12:53, March 31, 2012 (UTC)

Body Shedding

Could you please translate what both Sasuke (page 9, top right panel) and Itachi (page 16, middle right panel) say about this technique in Chapter 390, as well as giving your opinion on how it may potentially relate to the Body Replacement Technique? Blackstar1 (talk) 20:00, March 31, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks again, I'd suspected the same thing myself but it's nice to have some confirmation, now to decide how to most appropriately represent this in the article itself. Blackstar1 (talk) 20:58, March 31, 2012 (UTC)

What about the chapter cover page ? Is the text about being hated and loathed there ? thanks --Elveonora (talk) 17:23, April 3, 2012 (UTC)

The cover text says: "Hated, shunned, hiding himself; and yet, only sharpening his claws." (「嫌われ、疎まれ、その身を隠し、それでもただ、爪を研ぐ。」, "Kiraware, utomare, sono mi o kakushi, sore demo tada, tsume o togu.") —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 17:34, April 3, 2012 (UTC)

Possible foreshadowing of Kabuto's background ? Or no special meaning ? --Elveonora (talk) 17:45, April 3, 2012 (UTC)

I doubt it's foreshadowing — we're rather familiar with Kabuto's background already. Besides, even if it was foreshadowing, we cannot really take it all that serious. We're not even sure who writes those blurbs. —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 17:48, April 3, 2012 (UTC)

I see, thank you. --Elveonora (talk) 17:50, April 3, 2012 (UTC)

Anything interesting in the promotional text which mentions April 28th? Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 22:38, April 3, 2012 (UTC)

So does this weak's chapter proves that those "blurbs" are canonical ? --Elveonora (talk) 12:49, April 4, 2012 (UTC)

@Omnibender: Not really. It just says that the upcoming Jump NEXT! will feature a poster drawn by Kishimoto-sensei promoting the new film.
@Elveonora: It proves nothing, really. I don't remember ever seeing any of those blurbs being outright wrong, but that still doesn't change the fact that we haven't a clue who's writing them or how canonical they are. Even if Kishimoto-sensei himself is writing them, they still don't have to be canon, after all. They are, in the end, still removed from the tankōbon releases. —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 13:04, April 4, 2012 (UTC)

So they are not necessary right or wrong, but their presence or lack of thereof makes no difference. --Elveonora (talk) 13:10, April 4, 2012 (UTC)

Kabuto form

hey ShounenSuki, look i was thinking of something with kabuto form, i think that he has a "naga" like appereance normally, but when he activates sage mode his body become "human" again, losing his naga appereance, only having his snake tail atatched to his abdomen, so i ask if this true. Try cheking manga chapters 514 and 579-581 [sign your post]

His "Naga" form is something similar to this I assume, His actual body is what we see now, still humanoid just with scales and a snake coming from his navel (not ass as it was thought).--Elveonora (talk) 23:42, April 10, 2012 (UTC)

so lets say that, he has a human form, but after he uses his snake mode he turns into that naga form in the meantime

Timeline stuff

Hi. I need the references/chapters for the following happenings:

Canceling of the gruesome Kirigakure Genin trials
Foundation of the Akatsuki
The higher ups of Konoha ordering Itachi to kill his clan
Itachi's meeting with Madara/Tobi
Itachi joining the Akatsuki
Itachi killing Shisui, awakening his MS
Zabuza's attack on the Mizukage
Orochimaru's and Kimimaro's meeting
Orochimaru's and Zaku's meeting
Lee's and Guy's meeting
Foundation of Otogakure

I know this is a big request, but I hope you can help me. Probably I can create a proper timeline for this wiki, then. Also, you said that "There is actually quite some evidence pointing to there being a gap of about two years between Itachi joining Akatsuki and him massacring his clan.". Could you provide that evidence? I know the Itachi issue is bothering, but I still need some... proof. Seelentau 愛 12:40, April 11, 2012 (UTC)

  • Chapter 14, page 7: "Ten years ago… Kirigakure had no choice but to make a drastic change in their graduation exam. …The reason for that change happened the previous year. An evil spirit had appeared… […] Without any hesitation… Without any faltering… A very young boy that hadn't even qualified as a ninja yet completely annihilated that years' over a hundred examinees…" Kirigakure no sotsugyō shiken ga daihenkaku o togezaru o enaku naru. ……Sono zennen sono henkaku no kikkake to naru. Akki ga arawareta kara da…… […] Nanno chūcho mo naku… Nanno tamerai mo naku… Mada, ninja no shikaku mo ete inai osanai shōnen ga, hyakunin o koeru sono toshi no jukensha o kurai tsukushita nda…")
I also couldn't find any references for when Orochimaru met Zaku or Kimimaro. I'll check the rest later. —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 23:20, April 11, 2012 (UTC)

  • The blood exams were most likely cancelled with the death of Yagura and Mei as the new Mizukage
  • Adolescent Ame Orphans founded Akatsuki.
  • According to these "maths" it was when Itachi was 11 ... I guess he joined Akatsuki shortly after learning of Tobi and he has "killed" Shisui the same year.
  • Shortly after the unsuccessful assassination, he defected and met Haku
  • During the war of Kaguya against Kiri, unknown when.
  • It was not shown in manga, but Zaku died as a 14 years old ... try to guess from his appearance as a child in the anime.
  • Don't remember from manga, but in the anime it was during Lee's academy days.
  • "The Land of Sound (音の国, Oto no Kuni) is a neighbor country of the Land of Fire. It is a relatively new country in the political scene" thus most likely not that long ago.

I need translations and chapter references, Elveonora ^^ Seelentau 愛 09:55, April 12, 2012 (UTC)

I finally checked the Kiri issue and well, I'm confused. Zabuza was born 26 years prior to series start and became Genin at the age of 9, correct? So he became Genin 17 years prior to series start. How can he have slaughtered the Genin 11 years prior to series start, then? He was 15 when that happened and not 9... Seelentau 愛 21:14, April 17, 2012 (UTC)

I've always believed that his databook age was incorrect. Not only doesn't the age match up with the time line given in the manga, but I also remember Zabuza calling Kakashi something along the lines of 'old man' in the manga and Kakashi calling Zabuza 'brat', which would be ridiculous if they were the same age. I believe he should have been about 19 at the time of the first databook. —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 22:06, April 17, 2012 (UTC)

I thought this myself. So should we update his age ?--Elveonora (talk) 22:12, April 17, 2012 (UTC)

So the mistake's in the Japanese version of databook 1, then? I thought it was some mistranslation... Seelentau 愛 22:15, April 17, 2012 (UTC)

Hi. I need some more references:

Dan's death
Sasori's and Nagato's parents' death
Nawaki's death
Chibi's death (lol)
Also I need to know about the aftermath of the destruction of the Kannabi bridge. Did the IIID NWW really end after that?

Could you help me out? I am aware that the information may be available on the different article's, but you're more trustworthy. Seelentau 愛 21:32, April 18, 2012 (UTC)

Sorry for again jumping into discussion, but what project is it for ?--Elveonora (talk) 21:48, April 18, 2012 (UTC)

Over at the German Narutopedia, I'm working on a timeline every now and then. And it's almost complete, I just need references to make everything legit. There are a lot of events without refs so I asked Suki-senpai to help me. If I can complete the timeline, I will translate it to English and post it on a sub-page here. Maybe you can work with it, then. Or it's just some interesting trivia, like Omni-kun's element stuff. ;) Seelentau 愛 22:38, April 18, 2012 (UTC)

Oh, I see great then! There are already a few timeline out there, maybe we can "merge" them and make a one big Naruto timeline that's as accurate as possible--Elveonora (talk) 22:54, April 18, 2012 (UTC)

Some more things: I cannot find any clear indications of when the following events happened:
  • Foundation of the Akatsuki
    • As per FB22, p.115, Yahiko's Akatsuki were active during SWWIII, so it must have been founded not long before that. Also, Tobi's Akatsuki came to rise during Yagura's puppet reign in Kirigakure, as per FB2, p.126
  • Zabuza's attack on the Mizukage
    • God knows when this took place… It seems to have been after Zabuza found Haku though, as per ch.29, p.13. On DB1, p.125, the coup d'etat was places "several years ago" (「数年前」, "sūnenmae").
  • Lee's and Guy's meeting
    • As per the flashback starting on ch.179, p.11, it was when Lee was still an Academy student. That's about all I could find, though.
  • Foundation of Otogakure
    • According to FB1, p.17, Otogakure was "founded in recent years" (「近年興して」, "kinnen okoshite").
  • Dan's death
    • Kunugi Mokume's profile (DB2, p.169) clearly states it happened during SWWII: During the Second Shinobi World War, while on a mission on the enemy front […] (第二次忍界大戦中、敵戦線での任務において, Dainiji Ninkai Taisenchū, tekisensen de no ninmu ni oite). However, this is as far as the clear statements go. Still, if you want to delve deeper, I could calculate that it must have happened about about eleven years before the Kyūbi Attack: Dan was 27 when he died and it can be assumed he was about the same age as Tsunade. This is supported by his registration number (002973), which differs about 600 points with those of Tsunade, Jiraiya, and Orochimaru (2302, 2301, and 2300, respectively). The Sannin graduated at age 6, while Dan graduated at age 10, so a difference like this would be expected.
  • Sasori's and Nagato's parents' death
    • I couldn't find anything on this. In fact, I couldn't even find any true evidence that Sasori's father was Chiyo's son killed by Sakumo.
  • Nawaki's death
    • Nawaki's death is somewhat more difficult to calculate than Dan's. First of all, although we know he died the day after his twelfth birthday (ch.160, pp.7–10), that's all we know. There is no further information that gives us a clear indication of when exactly his death took place. However, once again we can go calculate things thanks to the registration numbers. It's a tad bit more difficult this time, though, as we don't know exactly when he graduated. Still, let's give it a shot: Nawaki's registration number is 005350. There is one more person with a registration number near that: Mikoto (005348). Although we don't know when she graduated either, we can assume they graduated at the same age. This would mean both of them were born in 27BK. We can compare this with people born around the same time: The Hyūga twins were born in 29BK and their registration numbers are 005159 and 005160, which fits quite nicely. Shibi was born in 26BK (005480) and the members of the former Ino–Shika–Chō Trio were born in 25BK (005490–005492). It all its perfectly. So if Nawaki was born in 27BK, he died on 10th August, 15BK. Four years before Dan's death, giving him and Tsunade plenty of time to meet, change the medical system, and fall in love.
  • Chibi's death (lol)
    • FB2, pp.114–115 indicate that the battle between Hanzō and the soon-to-be Sannin (which killed Chibi per ch.445, pp.12–13) happened during SWWII.
  • Also I need to know about the aftermath of the destruction of the Kannabi bridge. Did the IIID NWW really end after that?
    • DB2, p.191 says: "The opportunity granted by the 'Battle of Kannabi Bridge' instantly tipped the war in favour of Konoha." (「„神無毘橋の戦い”を機に、戦況は一気に木ノ葉へと傾く。」, " 'Kannabi-kyō no tatakai' o ki ni, senkyō wa ikki ni Konoha e to katamuku"). HB, p12 says: "After this [the battle], the long war drew to an end." (「これにより、長き戦いは終結に向かった。」, "Kore ni yori, nagaki tatakai wa shūketsu ni mukatta.")

yatta, more info! :D thank you again, senpai :3 Could you check the cover page for chapter 239? It says that the third NWW happened 10 or so years from now. But that's not true, right? I mean, Naruto was already born that time, Minato was dead... also, do you perhaps know where I can get a translation for the pages about the 2nd NWW in the Kai no Sho or even better, a whole translation of the book? Seelentau 愛 14:28, April 19, 2012 (UTC)

That cover says "Ten-odd years ago from today" (「今より十数年前」, "Ima yori jūsūnen mae"). 十数年 basically means 'ten years and a couple more'. So 'about fourteen years' would fit that quite well. —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 14:46, April 19, 2012 (UTC)
That's true. What is the timeline-thing in the Hero Book on page 12 at the top? Does that book contain any other dates or stuff I could use? Otherwise, I would start translating the timeline this weekend or so. Seelentau 愛 14:52, April 19, 2012 (UTC)
That 'timeline' is little more than a rough indicator of the order certain events took place. As you can see, the space between the events is always the same, yet there was less than a year between entry 7 (the inauguration of the Fifth Hokage) and entry 6 (the Konoha Crash), and about five years between entry 6 and entry 5 (the Uchiha massacre).
By the way, the entries are:
  1. Founding of the village of Konohagakure (木ノ葉隠れの里創設, Konohagakure no Sato sōsetsu)
  2. Establishment of the Academy (忍者学校設立, Akademī setsuritsu)
  3. Outbreak of the Third Shinobi World War (第三次忍界大戦勃発, Daisanji Ninkai Taisen boppatsu)
  4. Battle at Kannabi Bridge (神無毘橋の戦い, Kannabi-kyō no tatakai)
  5. Attack of the Kyūbi (九尾襲来, Kyūbi shūrai)
  6. Destruction of the Uchiha clan (うちは一族滅亡, Uchiha ichizoku metsubō)
  7. Konoha Crash (木ノ葉崩し, Konoha Kuzushi)
  8. Inauguration of the Fifth Hokage (五代目火影就任, Godaime Hokage Shūnin)

Shukaku Infobox

Hi. Currently, the Shukaku infobox lists this as one of the monikers: "The Incarnation of Sand (砂の化身, Suna no Keshin)". However, the English Dub calls it "The Manifestation of the Sand" (quoted from Gaara before he used Play Possum Jutsu). Which one would be better to use as a moniker ? --Speysider (Talk Page) 15:06, April 11, 2012 (UTC)

Would it be ok to add the English TV to that moniker and leave it as The Incarnation of Sand for the translation ? --Speysider (Talk Page) 07:26, April 12, 2012 (UTC)

Chapter 582 Stuff

  • Title: Nothing (何も無い, Nani mo Nai)
  • Sage Art: Inorganic Reincarnation (仙法・無機転生, Senpō: Muki Tensei)
    • Kabuto: "This technique allows me to control things that have no life functions by gifting them with life from myself… It's incomparable with techniques controlling things with chakra… It's a bit extreme, perhaps?" Chakura de ayatsuru jutsu towa wake ga chigau yo… Ikisugiteru daro?")
    • The middle two kanji, 機転, coincidentally also mean 'cleverness' and 'tact'.
  • Urushi (ウルシ)
  • The young woman that picks up and names Kabuto is called Mother [Superior] (マザー, Masā) by the other woman, indicating they are based on Roman-Catholic nuns. The man dressed in the same way as them indicates they aren't normal nuns, though. In Japan, many orphanages are (or have been) run by the Catholic church, at least since the Meiji Restoration up to after WWII.

Thank you :) Why did you chose 'reincarnation' and not 'resurrection', as it was chosen here? And am I right with this? Seelentau 愛 14:26, April 15, 2012 (UTC)

So Kabuto's techniques does not use chakra but Kabuto's life force ?--Elveonora (talk) 14:43, April 15, 2012 (UTC)

@Seelentau: I chose 'reincarnation' over 'resurrection', because nothing is being resurrected here. There is nothing that was once dead and is now brought back to life. However, you could interpret what happens as Kabuto 'reincarnating' a bit of himself into the lifeless object. In fact, to keep things consistent, I would suggest changing the translation of Edo Tensei to be in line with this technique.
As for the 'hyoko' part, I'm not entirely sure what to think of it. I doubt it's Urushi saying the woman's name, as he called her 'neechan' before, but on the other hand I doubt it's a simple sound effect as well, as it is quite clearly in a normal speech bubble and written in the standard speech font. You're right that it as a sound effect, it could mean 'peeking', though, so it would fit. It could also be that Urushi is commenting on Kabuto's unsteady state, as ヒョコヒョコ refers to being unsteady and he has to help Kabuto walk right afterwards.
@Elveonora: He just says 'life', actually, but I would assume he meant life force, yeah. Basically, he's 'reincarnating' a bit of his own life into the lifeless object, making it come to life itself. At least, that's what I got out of it. —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 15:46, April 15, 2012 (UTC)
ah, I see. So, would you still label it as Ninjutsu? He's forming hand seals so there's at least a little bit of Chakra involved... Seelentau 愛 16:32, April 15, 2012 (UTC)
One's Own Life Reincarnation involves life force and that is still ninjutsu. I'm sure you need chakra to actually remove the life from yourself and transfer it to the other (person/object). —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 17:39, April 15, 2012 (UTC)

About... things.

Hey it's me, GoDai, again. I've been recently re-reading the manga Shaman King, and I noticed something peculiar. To my knowledge, the Godai are usually composed of Fire, Wind, Earth, Water, and Void/Heaven. In Naruto the Godai chakra natures are Fire, Wind, Lightning, Earth, and Water. In Shaman King, the Five Great Elemental Spirits (Godaiseirei) are the spirits of Fire, Wind, Thunder, Earth, and Rain. So is it common for the element of Lightning to replace Void in popular culture? Is there a reason (such as cultural background and connotations) that this happens?

Also, a cat spirit in Shaman King mentions matatabi. Is this talking about the catnip? That's it for now, thanks a lot. --GoDai (talk) 00:50, April 23, 2012 (UTC)

Chapter 583 Stuff

  • Title: Who is This? (これは誰だ, Kore wa Dare da)
  • The Wandering Miko (歩きの巫女, Aruki no Miko)
    • An arukimiko (歩き巫女) is actually a type of miko that used to be quite common in Japan. Instead of belonging to a certain temple, these miko would travel around the country, performing various duties like prayers, exorcisms, oracle work, and sometimes even entertainment and prostitution.
  • Nonō (ノノウ)
    • It is said that the practice of arukimiko comes from a miko called Nonō (ノノウ) — a name said to have come from the word nōnō (のうのう, carefree, careless) — who travelled around the county preaching the Shintō faith. When Danzō mentions that Mother didn't fit in Root because she couldn't kill her emotions, the old man actually says to danzō: "How could you so carelessly…!" (「よくものうのうと…!」, "Yoku mo nōnō to…!")
  • Intelligence Division's number one elite (諜報部一エリート, Chōhōbu ichi erīto)
  • Nanigashi (ナニガシ)
    • Nanigashi (何某) means 'a certain person', 'Mr So-and-So'. It's a kind of place-holder name in a way.

Hmm

I posted this on Cerez' Page but, I think Orochimaru and Kabuto never lost Loyalty to Konoha, only loyalty to Hiruzen's reign and image of Konoha, he and Kabuto were in Root and were on Danzo's side and Beliefs, the "Destruction of the Leaf" plan was put together by Orochimaru AND Danzo as Ei has Hinted. He wants the same Konoha as Danzo wants. Him and Kabuto, JUST like Danzo should be listed as Konoha Shinobi still, loyalty and all right? I wanna go over this with you and Cerez to see if its 100% plausible and add worthy. ItachiWasAHero (talk) 20:11, April 23, 2012 (UTC)

Translation of 遁 (ton)

Hello, ShounenSuki-san. I was told you were the one who translated 火遁, 水遁... to Fire, Water etc. Release. I want to check whether the English-Polish translation based on your translation is correct. Does this "release" mean "to allow sth to be free" or sth else, e.g. "stop holding sth", "to let substances escape into the air, sea, etc" or something different? Could you give me some information about dictionaries or other sources you used? I was looking for this kanji in a Polish dictionary of Japanese characters, but, as this is not one of the basic 1945 kanji, I could not find. Do you think "ton" can be found in "Japanese-Polish Dictionary : Basic Vocabulary" or a "Minimum Japanese-Polish dictionary"? In an online kanji dictionary (English one) I found following translations: "flee, escape, shirk, evade, set free", but I didn't have proper skills to choose one of them, or to be sure that the translation wouldn't change if I added 火, 水 or another character before it. For example I found completely different translations of 水遁の術 : "ninjutsu art of water-escape" and 火遁 : "ninja technique to hide [escape] by [through] fire". I look forward to read a response from you. brgdsPaweł „Havelock” Polański (talk) 18:25, April 26, 2012 (UTC)

Fixing articles written in the present tense

I hesitate to intrude upon the workings of one of my favorite websites, but I feel that I must. The Manual of Style states that "Articles should be written in past-tense, not present or future tense," and the Writing Policy prescribes that "Articles should be written in the third person in past tense"--and yet, when I inspect the various arc summary pages, I find that they're written in the present tense. Should the arc summary pages be corrected (and I'd be happy to do so), or will a higher-up (such as your esteemed self) clarify in the Manual of Style and Writing Policy that those guidelines apply only to non-plot-summary pages? Hey ShounenSuki. I haven't been here for a while haha... I personally got a little bored of Naruto, although I do hope something great happens with this "person that knows everything." In recent time, while I was gone, I've been reading a Korean comic series called "Tower of God." It's ongoing and a translated version is available at Batoto.net. I found that while not as full of action as Naruto, it had a deeper side to it, and I really enjoy reading it. I discovered that there was a wikia on it, and I helped out over there. I was recently making a post, and I wanted to hide the original Korean text in a collapsible box like you do with your translated posts, but when I tried out the same code, it produced an identical box, but not collapsible. Could you help me out? If you want to see for yourself, it's here: [2]. Thanks! --GoDai (talk) 07:14, July 13, 2012 (UTC)

I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me. Also, thank you for the help with the Sharingan appearing on the Infobox; it worked. Prodigy (Talk to me) 15:48, August 9, 2012 (UTC)

Request for fan-KG

Hello again. :) You were kind to make a fictional "Divine Mangekyou Sharingan". Now I would need your help with something similar. I want to ask you, if you can make images of one my fictional doujutsu KG. I am calling it "Seizeigan", which would mean "star energy eye". I was previously trying to name it "cosmic energy eye", but I dont liked "Uchuuzeigan".

While the name is affiliated to space and cosmic energy seen in various superhero comics, here it isnt truly using it, bu shapes of it. This eye, which is descendant of Sharingan, able to see various kinds of energies, from chakra, heat, X-ray to night vision (cant remember now what kind of energies NV uses). It is also able to gather chakra even from nature (aka senjutsu, but user will not be in contact with it, so he dont turns into animal and statue). The chakra which it can than use can be made so thick it can be solid.

Seizeigan would be able to make chakra shurikens as thick as normal, create orbs around the user similar to the Scorch Technique jutsu seen in manga/anime, shoot beams of chakra from parts of body (arms, eyes...) and so. I want go into too much details, as there are a lot of options how to use it. unlike Sharingan, it cant perform genjutsu in any way (thought in theory be able to block it), just ninjutsu. Also it cant copy, but gives enhanced awareness, so the user is able to partially "read" the movements of opponent.

Now for the appearance, as it is "relative" of Sharingan, it bears some similarities with it. There are three levels of Seizeigan, and each higher level adds a new thing to the design.

The first level is very close to Sharingan. However, the sclera is black (or nearly black), has black pupil like Sharingan, and four disks on sclera, which are slightly larger than Sharingan's tomoe, and little farer from pupil. And these disks are blue instead of red (blue is Seizeigan's primary color). And around the pupil is blue ring, rather thin. To better imagine it, here is what inspired the design :)

The second level is similar, but the ring around pupil is thicker (like on the link), and there is another ring which goes through the four disks (also like the link image). But they are not connected.

And the third is that from the pupil ring comes four thorns going down through the other ring to the end of the sclera, forming a star. To little explain it, the eye is to be based on comsic objects. The four disks to remind planets, the pupil and ring around it partially a galaxy and black hole, the ring coming through disks a planetary rings around blue planet (pupil ring), and the star... a star :D And the black background as black of space :)

I hope you understand what I mean with the descriptions. If you will want to explain something, I will gladly do it. :) Or make a simple draft. Oh, and the blue, close to the one in the link image, or in the light shade of Dodger blue.

Need help about opening "Special pages"

Umm, hello. I am new to this wiki and I am using my friend's registration. I want to ask you how to open "List of jutsus", "list of characters" etc topics. An error appears saying this: No such special page Special page

You have requested a special page that is not recognised by Narutopedia. A list of valid special pages can be found at Special pages. I have to search the jutsus manually from each character which is annoying me. Hope that you can help me fix my problem, although I think that these topics are bugged for everyone. --Number-Guy (talk) 17:57, September 21, 2012 (UTC)

New Kanji Symbol Please?

Hey ShounenSuki, I really like the kanji you are making for the chakra natures. Could you please make a kanji symbol for a Bone element? (It's a kekkei tota, by the way.)
