Re: Zatch Bell Wiki Edit
Kiddo789, taking a wiki and turning it into a community is something that takes a lot of interest, knowledge, and dedication to a topic. "appalled" really isn't a fitting word. No-one is obligated in any way to edit a wiki, it is a completely voluntary act, if someone feels like they are tired of making edits or they have lost interest in the topic or the wiki they have no reason to contribute, everyone has the right to leave. Including admins of a wiki, an administrator is nothing but just another member of the community who was trusted enough to responsibly handle a permission flag. There are thousands of anime series, wikis die off easily, only a small set of people interested in the topic are interested in writing about it as part of a community, and those people often don't even notice the wiki. So it's not at all unexpected for a wiki to not exist or died off. I've watched dozens of series I've loved, but only a half dozen of them even have active wiki.
I haven't watched through Zatch Bell!, I've only seen a small part of the series. The Zatch Bell! Wiki isn't one I can bring up. Bringing up a wiki takes a lot of work and interest. I have other series I'm interested in, and other wiki I'm trying to bring up.
To bring up a wiki you first need to dedicate yourself to the starting point of the content; A small bit of everything. Trying to create one or two really good articles doesn't help, you need a general starting point for everything. Easiest way to do that is to start by copying Wikipedia articles over to the wiki, then you split them up into separate pages, clean them up, and start to add information to them (this is how I started the Narutopedia and the Soul Eater Wiki both). At the same time you need to reach out and try to bring people to the community, normally the best way to do this is by joining forums putting a link to the wiki in your sig, and participating (NOT spaming links, that goes nowhere) throwing in relevant links to the wiki in your own comments. Going to other wiki doesn't normally help, most users are already comfortable in the community they are in and normally you'll only find a few people that are actually interested in both series. The key is "critical mass", people are normally only interested in editing if there is already content on the wiki to start with, so you need to start of the content and get an active community going. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Oct 25, 2009 @ 04:57 (UTC)
I see Edit
Then it looks like I have a lot on my plate to begin with then. Though it would help to have at least one experience wiki maker to assist me. Since using the proper codes arent really my forte.Or at least having someone show me a decent enough layout to get started, since copying and pasting from another wiki page doesnt suit my fancy.
But, your idea of joining a forum and the rest of the linking information will most likely help. I thank you for taking the time out of your day to help me along, even if it was just abit.
