The picture didn't have a fair use rational.--Deva 27 (talk) 07:14, May 27, 2010 (UTC)

Re: You can't have a userpage!

Actually userpages are more of a tool for editors to let other editors know relevant information about the user, and things like best methods to contact the user... A userpage is in no way essential, many good editors go without one for awhile... In fact in the history of the Narutopedia, the good editors contributing lots to the wiki have generally lent more towards not having a userpage for awhile, whilst most of the users who jump in and create a userpage near their first edit end up not actually contributing much to the wiki.

Though the real reason for the policy is a little different issue. We've had large issues in the past with anything not focused centrally around content on the wiki... Userpages have been abused by users to create personal profiles not relevant to the wiki, and the user's never come back to actually contribute anything to the wiki. We used to allow off-topic discussions but the wiki ended up swamped with piles of users who created personal profiles on their userpages, sat in the forum discussing things in no way related to the wiki, started off-topic discussions on article talkpages, and never contributed any content to the wiki. The last straw was broken when that category of users started acting hostile towards the actual contributors on the wiki, at that point we added the polices against anything that's not actually relevant to the wiki, deleted all the junk, and got rid of the users who weren't helping the wiki. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) May 27, 2010 @ 07:34 (UTC)

The userpage policy doesn't really have anything to do with a specific number of edits. The pile of active users without userpages has nothing to do with the userpage policy, that's an example of what I noted above, plenty of good contributors who focus on adding content to the wiki, rather than satisfying a personal need to create a userpage, end up contributing a lot to the wiki and become very active in the community... In fact, a few of the users who actually became sysops still haven't even bothered to create a userpage. I only have one myself because I'm part of dozens of wiki on Wikia and I've been on Wikia for years... I eventually got around to finally creating a userpage, or updating it... my userpages have generally been left stale for long periods of time not being updated.
As for the image, first note it's it's lacking a Fair use rationale, take a look at Forum:Fair use tagging tips.... Copyrighted images used under fair use need rationales, it's a legal thing, so without that stuff we don't allow images in pages. You also shouldn't be using an absolute px size in your inclusion of the image, just use |thumb|, using an absolute size destroys the ability for people to control thumb size with their user preferences. To be frank though, Sakura's article already has plenty of images of her, and I don't really think that image is necessary. It's also lower quality than most of the other images (and of a image format we like to avoid), and wastes a pile of space on the image with nothing but white area which also makes thumbnails horrid. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) May 27, 2010 @ 08:02 (UTC)
