This page is only for the purpose of expressing a few theories I have concerning the Naruto series and in no way reflect the thoughts of the writer, Masashi Kishimoto, or the site as a whole. I'll add more to this page as the need arises.
Theories yet to be proven
One of the prevalent mysteries surrounding the series at this point is; how did Nagato obtain his Rinnegan? We all may remember that, at one point, Tobi, under the guise of "Madara Uchiha", claimed that it was he that gave Nagato the Rinnegan. When Tobi was revealed to be the thought-to-be-deceased Obito Uchiha, this presented a problem in the continuity. So then, the facts we know are this;
- Obito, under the guise of Madara Uchiha, claims he gave Nagato his Rinnegan.
- Nagato first used the Rinnegan as a small child during the Second Shinobi World War.
- Obito wouldn't have been alive during this time period.
- The real Madara Uchiha was alive during this time, because he was shown alive in Obito's time period, several decades later.
My theory is that Madara, the real Madara, was the one to give Nagato the Rinnegan. Obito claimed to have done this under the guise of Madara which would make Madara the more logical of the two to have preformed this deed. How he did so, I am unsure, however, I suspect it may be similar to Itachi's Transcription Seal: Goddess of the Sun technique; Madara would, theoretically, have transferred his power to Nagato through a similar technique, since Madara himself had the Rinnegan.
Mysteries surrounding Madara and Obito Uchiha
Ever since Tobi was revealed to be Obito Uchiha, a lot of questions regarding his partnership with Madara Uchiha have been answered. However, like with most mysteries, when some questions are answered, new ones arise. We should be getting close to knowing just about everything, but for the sake of fun, let's go over some of the questions;
Questions surrounding Madara and Obito
- How did Obito survive?
- The Eye of the Moon Plan - how does Madara fit in?
- Were there two Tobi?
Here is what we know;
- According to Chapter 601, we can infer that Madara did indeed save Obito from the rockfall somehow.
- Madara planned to use Nagato's Outer Path: Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique to revive himself at the right moment, clearly to be part of the Eye of the Moon Plan.
- This is supported by the fact that Madara knew about the plan and the revival of the Ten-Tails.
- We know that there was a long-haired Tobi, with a similar hair-style to Madara.
Going off of just the information we have, I speculate that Obito really did die during the event of the Kannabi Bridge incident. He appears in the world between the living in the dead, which further supports my theory. Now then, we see Madara apparently as an old man, but I don't buy that, though it is certainly plausible. Madara looks almost exactly like Nagato did after using the Gedo Rinne Tensei technique. So, here is my thought on that;
Madara, using his Rinnegan, likely knew his life was coming to an end anyways and used Gedo Rinne Tensei technique to bring Obito back to life. Kakashi was shown to remain within this "limbo", if you will, for awhile after the technique was used, to speak to his father. Likely, this is where Madara indoctrinates Obito and turns him into the Tobi we all know.
A lot of people believe that this Obito is just a Parasite Clone of Zetsu that is copying Obito's appearance and chakra. I have to say, that's hogwash. However, I am willing to agree that Zetsu was involved to an extent. If you look at the picture on the left, you will see the scene in which Obito replaced the arm he lost in the battle with Konan out of a plant looking a lot like Zetsu. My theory on this is that Zetsu's plant material is what Madara used to make Obito whole again. This would explain how he can replace appendages and why he leaks white material when he is hurt.
Now, on to Madara. Personally, I believe the only reason Madara wanted to be revived is because he wants to be the Ten-Tails' jinchūriki (not Obito) and I back this up with this; only the jinchūriki of the Ten-Tails can use Infinite Tsukuyomi on the moon. Obito's Mangekyō Sharingan does not grant him use of Tsukuyomi, rather Kamui, meaning they need Madara's Sharingan to complete the Eye of the Moon Plan.
Lastly, the issue of two Tobi. Honestly, I do believe that there are two Tobi. Madara, the long-haired one, and Obito, the short-haired one. Madara is the only one who seems plausible to explain some of the actions behind Tobi. Controlling Yagura, giving Nagato the Rinnegan decades before Obito was born, all seems to point towards Madara, rather than Obito. It does seem like, however, Obito is behind the Uchiha Clan Massacre, the Nine-Tails' Attack on Konoha, and all of the present day events that transpired under the name of "Madara" and "Tobi".
