Introduction

Hey. I'm Hākinu, a Norwegian girl in the end of her teenage years. I'm a big fan of the Naruto manga and anime, and try to keep up to date with it, besides being a full-time university student.
I must say I'm a bit worried some can find me chilly when I notify them about "business" matters. The thing is that I'm just trying to keep serious where it's needed. If you need me for anything, just contact me on my talk pages. You can also send me an email at Hakinu@gmail.com.

My work

As an addition to regular article maintainment, I mainly focus on the wiki's image arsenal. I don't upload many new pictures to illustrate further. Instead I've had enough to do improving the already existing files. When I edit images, I use the following information a lot.

Fair use Rationale and info on Copyright (license)

It doesn't seem I can say this enough times: include fair use rationale and copyright information with the images you upload! Take an example among the images in the main character's articles (they're mostly most accurate on style). Please, it's not helping a lot if you upload an image that instantly has to be marked with warnings of deletion (look at the image policy if you wonder why).

Dantman made a template ({{subst:ImageWarn|ImageName.ext}}) allowing us to give warnings pretty easily. Yet these warnings seems to be ignored by many. This leaves us editors with a lot of additional work you, as uploader, could have done with much bigger ease. All you have to do is to add a Fair Use Rationale (see below) into the Summary-box while you're still in the uploading page. Also the license can be added by clicking the thingy below the Summary box (still in the uploading page) and select a relevant copyright by the bottom of the list.

Mark the text inside the box with the headline which headline says the media you got the image from and push ctrl+c to copy. Go to your picture and push 'edit this page', paste the template in with ctrl+v and fill it in.

Examples:

Of course, if it's not a character it's illustrating, don't say it's an illustration of the character, but of [[jutsu or whatever else you were uploading an illustration of]]

Images from the manga

This template also includes the license, since it's more or less always the right license for manga. Note that this is not the case when the purpose of the image being uploaded is illustrating a character. See: Copyright information

Images from Naruto games

This template also includes the license, since it's more or less always the right license for games. This is not the case if it's illustrating a cover, which in case it's {{Fair use|game-cover}} that is most relevant. Also note that this template of mine changes a bit depending on what the image illustrates. This is for techniques, see below

Image tags

Do not use [[]] in this template. The template won't work then. Plus, it links automatically.

{{Image tags}}{{Characters in image|full character names listed here, each seperated with a comma}}

This template can be used to show which characters the image contains. This makes it easier to find out if the character or situation you want to illustrate already has an image of it uploaded. This can be checked by going to the Property:Character in image gallery. Jutsu can be tagged the same way, with the {{Jutsu in image|jutsu listed here, each seperated by comma}} template.

More: See this thread, which discusses whether these tags should be replaced with one single tag ({{Tags}}).

Copyright information (license)

Also, if you are also missing copyright information, add the one that fit the image under the Fair Use Rationale:

==Licensing==
{{Fair use|character}}

==Licensing==
{{Fair use|comic}}

==Licensing==
{{Fair use|tv-screenshot}}

==Licensing==
{{Fair use|game-screenshot}}

==Licensing==
{{Fair use|game-cover}}

==Licensing==
{{Fair use|film-poster}}

If you know any licenses that aren't listed, please add them to my list ^_^

Revert of Re-uploads

Warning template (paste on talk page): {{subst:ImageRevert|ImageName.ext}}

The reason why people revert your re-upload of a new image you upload, is almost always because of the Image policy. In this policy you will find that the only time you are going to use the re-upload function is if you have the same image with higher quality/resolution.

Dantman explains why with the following: "Unless it's the exact same image of better quality, never upload an image over another one, I unconditionally revert overwrites under that guide. The reason is explained there (in the image policy), it basically boils down to history tracking."

If you for some reason wish to replace an image with another, use the Upload function, which you find as the first of the links under the search field on the left side of the screen.

You might find it useful to have Leaf Ninja.com's guide over episodes if you decide to go looking for what episode a screenshot is from. It's sad to say that they are not up to date. But not to worry. Wikipedia's list over Shippūden episodes can be used to guide yourself around in the episodes you don't find a summary of on Leafninja's list. Wikipedia's list is what Leafninja copies, but I prefer Leafninja's for two reasons. One is that they tell what's different from the manga by marking filler content orange. The other thing is the little picture that might tell you a little more about what episode this is.

I find it unethical to advertise for anything but the official DVD's and other official releases of the episodes (tv). Do support the owners (they worked hard making Naruto (not counting some filler arcs <o<'))!

Same goes for the manga; buy it!... Yet, sometimes it's better to just use Mangahelper's raws. Why? Because 1. You don't have to flick around in every volume you have 2. They have cleaners that (mostly) clean properly and make the images clearer than your own scans would be.

All these makes them much more useful to get illustrations for the wiki than what your own scans would have. The exception would be if you had the original, Japanese magazine.

Thoughts on Naruto and it's -pedia

  • Hākinu be wondering why Gaara's face underneath his sand shield looks like a puppet when the shield peels off @ 2:30 in original Naruto ep. 127.
  • I don't understand what's so funny with writing things like "Michael kelly makes me horny" [1] in articles.
  • Another thing I don't understand is that speculation on which game, manga and/or anime Naruto is a rip-off from. Especially when it comes to implying that Sasuke is based on this and that character because of the hair (colour).
  • I be wondering who's going to tell them that Zabuza wasn't killed by Sasuke, and that Sasuke in fact was snoring his way through the whole dying thing, that Deidara killed himself, AND that Itachi died(?) from illness 8D

Gabzilla (from her review of chapter 466)
- Tobidara: Hello, guys. I'm here to rescue Princess Sasuke and lie to you. And as you are a bunch of fools, you'll probably believe me. 8D
- Major lulz at Sasuke being swept off his feet by Madara. He really is the Princess Peach of this manga.
