The Japanese umbrella is a common accessory and weapon among ninja from Amegakure. It can be equipped with many senbon that can be released from spring-loaded mechanisms situated in the ribs, which are used to perform the Senbon Shower. Worn on the back, the ninja can quickly open the umbrella and hurl it into the air.

In the anime, Shura has an umbrella that has had several modifications made to it. It could spew flames from the tip of it and shoot wires to bind a target. Additionally, the handle could be removed from the umbrella to reveal a hidden sword.
