"Ultimate Defence: Zero Blind Spot!" (死角ゼロ!もうひとつの絶対防御, Shikaku Zero! Mō Hitotsu no Zettai Bōgyo) is episode 61 of the original Naruto anime.

Synopsis

Iruka worries about Naruto since he is fighting Neji Hyūga. Outside of the battle arena, Kabuto kills an ANBU to use as a disguise. Naruto's clones fail to hit Neji, and Neji aims for the real Naruto but is unsuccessful. Then Naruto uses more clones of himself attack Neji, only to fail when Neji uses Eight Trigrams Palms Revolving Heaven. Hiashi and Hinata are shocked to see it. Naruto makes seven clones, which encircle Neji and charge at him again, only to be repelled again. Neji takes the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms stance, which surprises Hiashi, and strikes Naruto sixty-four times. Genma goes up a bit and says the match is over. Neji goes up to Naruto. Kiba then asks Hinata if she is okay. Neji was suddenly shocked to see that Naruto is trying to stand up. Naruto feels dizzy and remembers Lee and Hinata when they had critical injuries due to their matches. Neji is surprised to see Naruto quickly recover from the attack. Naruto asks about the Hyūga clan and Neji's hatred for it. Neji takes off his forehead protector and reveals the Hyūga Main Family's Juinjutsu. Neji then explains about the cursed seal and says that his destiny was decided when Naruto was chosen as his opponent.

At some point, he stands up and looks out at the window and worries about Naruto since he is fighting Neji Hyuga. Out on the battle arena, [[Kabuto]] kills an ANBU and thinks: ''Put on a great show will you Naruto? You know, I got a tough job to do, and I'd like to be entertained while doing that.''

Everyone in the audience starts to think it was over (Hinata starts to cough). Naruto looks up and says: "I told you… not to count me out!" The clone immediately disappears. Neji was immediately surprised, and finds a clone Naruto and the real Naruto behind him, clenching their fists to punch. "ALL RIGHT!!! WAY TO GO, NARUTO!!!" [[Kiba]] shouted out while [[Hinata]] mutters his name. ''What?! He used a clone as a decoy to deceive me and purposely let it out so he could leave me open!?'' Neji thought. "Now's the time for you to lose!" Naruto shouted out.

He then spins his body and can easily repel the attack and send it back flying. Now normally, it's hard to emit chakra from their openings. Even a [[Jonin]] can have a hard time doing it either on their fingers, toes, or any other body parts while doing a technique. But, Neji can emit his chakra from anywhere in his body at the same time and knock away physical attacks. Even his [[Rotation]] can surpass Gaara's sand shield. This is Neji's absolute defense!''

Neji's pace with the Eight Trigrams increases and presses 8 points. "16 Palms!" More points erupt from Naruto in a fast pace. "32 Palms!" Even at a faster rate, Naruto gets hit 32 times. "64 Palms!" In an impossible pace, Neji hits 64 points and sends Naruto flying.

Hiashi then thinks, ''To think that Hyuga's Kekkei Genkai would find its purest form in this child of the lesser branch of the clan, a child banished from the line of succession. Truly my brother, you have been denied from what is rightfully yours.'' Neji then goes up to Naruto. "I have struck all 64 points of your chakra. You're still lucky to be breathing. And yet, you still actually think that you would be [[Hokage]] with just a little hard work, ha!" [[Hinata]] then starts to cough up more blood. "Hey, Hinata what's wrong? Are you okay?" Kiba asked. Ino then rests back at her chair. "What a fool! I almost thought that he could win!" Sakura mutters Naruto's name. Neji was suddenly shocked to see that Naruto is trying to stand up. Naruto opens his eyes and his vision is a little blurry. He then thinks of [[Lee]] and [[Hinata]] who always stands up even when they are worn out (like Hinata on the verge of death and Lee with his hands and legs crushed). From the image, he forces himself back up "Impossible! How could he…" Neji stuttered. Naruto just said, "I told you, I just don't know when to give up."

[[Hinata]] coughs up more blood from seeing Naruto getting defeated, this time, [[Kiba]] gets real concerned (while [[Kotetsu]] looks at Hinata) and realized that Hinata hasn't healed from her injuries. From the left of Kiba, an ANBU comes and sees that she can heal Hinata. "What? Who are you?" Kiba asks as he hears the ANBU's voice. "Let's just say, that we aren't enemies." The ANBU replied.
-Neji then says to Naruto, "Stop this madness! You'll only get more of the same. I have nothing against you personally." Naruto only replies, "Ha, that's touching! You're going to make me cry! Anyway, I got plenty against you!" Neji then says that he doesn't know what Naruto is talking about. "Did you ever think of what would happen to Hinata if she was trying so hard?" Neji's face hardens a bit. "That's none of your business." Naruto then only says with his breath quickening. "She tried so hard to get here, and yet, all you do is that you just call her a loser? A head branch and a branch family, I don't what it is but…I'll never forgive you!" Naruto yelled out (At the same time that Naruto was talking, the [[ANBU]] was bringing [[Hinata]] upstairs with [[Kiba]] following) The ANBU then lights up his hand with green chakra and touches it at Hinata's chest. "Hey, what are you—" Kiba was cut off by the ANBU, saying that she's healing Hinata. Neji then smirks and says that if Naruto goes out that far then Neji will tell Naruto. "The Hyuga's Branch family destiny of hatred." Naruto was then immediately confused.
-"The Hyuga Clan has a Ninjutsu that was passed down many generations. It was called a "Curse Seal Jutsu". Naruto questions about it. Neji then took off his forehead protector and in front of his forehead was some sort of symbol. Naruto had his eyes wider in surprise of the symbol.

But one clan was missing…the [[Hyuga Clan]]. On that day, it was when the heir of the Hyuga clan turned 3. It was Lady Hinata's third birthday." Naruto seems to calm down and was interested to the story. Neji continued. "My father, [[Hizashi Hyuga]], and Hinata's father (who's up in the stand right now), [[Hiashi Hyuga]], were twin brothers." Neji looks up the audience and takes an evil glare at Hiashi. "Hiashi was born into this world before my father did and was hence, placed as the Head Family of the Hyuga Clan. While my father, was placed in the Branch Family."
-A flashback occurs, and Hizashi says to Hiashi, "Lady Hinata has turned three, congratulations." Hiashi only says thanks. Hinata (when three) hides behind his father and when she sees Neji, she hides again but smiles again. Neji (when four years old) seems to be taken by the smile, and whispers to his father, "Isn't she cute, father?" Hizashi doesn't seem to hear. "What's wrong, Father?" Neji asks again. Hizashi then says that it was nothing. Hiashi then holds out his hand and says: "I'll be taking care of Neji now." Hizashi then agrees, while Neji is surprised by the fact that he was taken away.
-"And on that day, the heir to the head of the household turned three that the curse mark was put on me, and I was made a bird in a cage, by my own uncle." Naruto then asks of what importance of the curse mark was and how it distinguishes the two branches. "This curse mark isn't for decoration, you know."
-Another flashback occurs in which Hiashi and Hinata were practicing and Hizashi and Neji were watching. Hizashi then says to Neji, "Remember, you must live to protect the heir and must do it with your life." Neji then clearly says that he understands. Hizashi was aware of Neji's talent, and resented that Neji would be forced to serve under the Head branch. Hizashi activated his [[Byakugan]] and gave a "murderous" intent at [[Hinata]]. Immediately noticing this, Hiashi does a quick [[Hand Seals|hand seal]] and in immediate response, Hizashi immediately shouts out in agony. "My head!" Neji seems to be surprised and goes up to Hizashi, "What's wrong, father?" Hizashi still shouts in agony, and Neji starts to cry. Behind him, Hiashi says: "Leave. I will forgive you this time." Hinata hides behind her father and they leave, leaving a crying Neji.
-"You see, this is more than a mark that we wear. It is also the instrument by which they keep us in our place. We live in the fear that they will use this curse mark to turn our brains into jelly anytime they wish. Fear, that is what we live with; and we live with it every day. Only in death are we free of it. This is how the power of the Byakugan is kept sealed away." Neji says. Naruto seems to be surprised by the fact that the Head can control the Branch Family and the Byakugan can be sealed away very easily. "As you can see, this system is to control the whole Hyuga branch. No disobedience could be allowed." Neji then closed his eyes. "But, the head then went too far." He looked up again at Naruto and said: "And on that day, they killed my father!" Naruto was immediately shocked after hearing that.
-"On one night, someone had abducted Lady [[Hinata]]." Another flashback occurs, and a person wearing black all over his body (concealing his face too) kidnapped Hinata. The person then went out the door, and suddenly sees [[Hiashi]] Hyuga in front of him. In advancement, Hiashi quickly kills the kidnapper and clutches Hinata in his arm. "It was dark and [[Hiashi]] took off the mask, and did you know who it was?" Neji continued. Everyone seems to be listening. "He was the Cloud Shinobi that just signed our alliance treaty." Naruto was shocked (while Hiashi looks down), "It seemed to be clear, that the Cloud Shinobi wanted the Hyuga Clan's secret. But, the Cloud Country made demands from the leaf for breaking the alliance. And they wanted the blood of the Hyuga Clan's killer to the Shinobi." [[Hanabi]] was immediately confused, wondering why father was still here. "The Leaf wanted to safely avoid war, so they agreed to their terms. But, instead, they killed my father to take place of [[Hiashi]]'s corpse!" Everyone seems to be surprised of this. "There was no method but death, and the [[Byakugan]] was sealed away."
-"They were practically twins, same ability, same blood, same strength. But, destiny was chosen by them of how who was born first and second. Your destiny was decided the moment I was chosen as your opponent." Naruto seems to be a little more stern from hearing that.
