The Tsuchikage (土影, literally meaning: Earth Shadow) is the leader of Iwagakure and thus recognised as the most powerful shinobi in the entire village. The Tsuchikage are known for holding true authority, having their shinobi obey every command without hesitation. There have been four Tsuchikage so far in the history of the village. Most of the buildings in this village are comprised of stone with the Tsuchikage residing in the tallest one which has a cone-shaped roof. The building also bears the kanji for Tsuchi (, literally meaning: Earth).

Main article: Ishikawa Ishikawa (イシカワ, Ishikawa) was the First Tsuchikage (初代土影, Shodai Tsuchikage, literally meaning: First or Founding Earth Shadow) who founded Iwagakure in the Land of Earth. In the anime, he was stated to be a member of the Kamizuru Clan.[1]

Second Tsuchikage

Main article: Mū‎‎ (, ) was the Second Tsuchikage (二代目土影, Nidaime Tsuchikage, literally meaning: Second Earth Shadow) of Iwagakure.[2] During his lifetime, Mū was renowned as the "Non-Person" (無人, Mujin, Viz: Null-Man) due to his ability which left neither a physical form nor detectable chakra signature.[2]

Main article: Ōnoki Ōnoki (オオノキ, Ōnoki, Viz: Ohnoki), renowned as "Ōnoki of Both Scales" (両天秤のオオノキ, Ryōtenbin no Ōnoki, English TV: Ohnoki the Fence-Sitter), was the Third Tsuchikage (三代目土影, Sandaime Tsuchikage, literally meaning: Third Earth Shadow) of Iwagakure.

Main article: Kurotsuchi Kurotsuchi (黒ツチ, Kurotsuchi) is a kunoichi of Iwagakure, the granddaughter of the Third Tsuchikage, and the great-great granddaughter of the First Tsuchikage via her grandfather, Ōnoki. After the retirement of her grandfather, the Third Tsuchikage, she would later follow their endowment by taking on the mantle as the Fourth Tsuchikage (四代目土影, Yondaime Tsuchikage, literally meaning: Fourth Earth Shadow).
