but he shouldn't have lost at all, he's a Jōnin. saying he lost because he wasn't thinking straight is like saying sasuke lost to itachi because his vison was clouded with rage. no sasuke lost because itachi was way stronger and shino lost 'cuz he suck at life. I'm also not saying shino would win(cuz he would). I'm just saying they both suck and aren't relevant to Naruto.
When you're so much of a Boruto fanboy that you cant see through the shittiness of the series. It is laden with obvious continuity errors caused by a "bigger, better, stronger" mentality of the viewers and writers. There's barely any thought to power leveling and tactics anymore, not to mention originality. They made academy level students on the level of veteran genin to mid-tier chuunin. Why? Because people love their main characters to be super-duper strong and cool... It is foolish to compare stats from Boruto, a show all about jacking off Mitsuki, Sarada, and Boruto, to Naruto(and Shippuden) which already has issues keeping up with its own leveling system.
Furthermore, we are not even considering Shino or Tenten's levels in Boruto, nor their comparison to those shitty characters in Boruto. This is about the 4th Great Shinobi WW, how hard is it to understand simple parameters?
Now, on to an actual contribution to this thread...
I like the idea behind Tenten's character; A weapon specialist that can hold her own in melee, range, and save her chakra for when she really needs it. Honestly its a solid concept among a world of overpowered monsters. However, her character's application of said concept is lacking. She, while having been under the guidance of Gai, still was physically weak and would burn out easily. She may have had a strong will, but that isn't enough to keep her in the game against Shino.
If I like the concept behind Tenten, then I love Shino's. A calm, intelligent ninja who seems to always escape from view and surprises almost everyone with his appearance. While he definitely could use some more physical training, Shino is by no means weak. I mean, even before his beat down by that rogue taki-jounin(filler, but even Kishi has stated he considers it cannon) he was able to send someone who weighs just as much as him flying with one backhand hit. His situational awareness lent to him by his insects and natural perception, coupled with his nigh unnoticeable presence and garb, makes him blend in to nigh any environment. This alone gives him the edge of a first strike, and as we know from almost any of Shino's fights, it only takes one hit for him to lock down your location and start draining your chakra.
While Tenten could best him in taijutsu and definitely bukijutsu, Shino would control the battlefield with his insects and tacical sense and make her fight on his terms every step of the way. In the end, She just doesn't have the chakra to survive against Shino, let alone any other Aburame.
I'd give it a 9 times out of 10 for Shino coming out on top, 6 of those coming out decisively, while the other 3 would be close calls.
