Remember kids, stalking is bad. In other news, kind of curious if we'll get to see another glimpse of Himawari's Byakugan, from the looks of the next episode's preview.

Let's be real. Boruto being the only one able to see them is dumb. Buroto being another durn child of prophecy is stupid it didn't need to happen again it's what kinda ruined Naruto. It also feels weird since it didn't seem like he had it when the movie happened until after he fought those guys which was when he was taking the CE. This new show takes place during academy years so it doesm't add up to me.
People chased Naruto all the time when he was doing bad things. So they should be keeping an eye on freaking pre-teens with magical powers and weapon skills cause they can do major damage.
The not telling adults is a tired cliche that has been old since the Goonies. The fact they just forgive people for going nuts and attacking people is dumb too. Shino would be in a prison or a straight jacket if they had any sense. Or the village would be looking at the Yamanaka clan thinking they were messing with people. The anime should be a slice of life or something, not whatever it is now.

Toneri suggests great things are coming that he can help, whereas Momoshiki's words suggest Boruto is the reason it all goes to hell. A good prophecy can do a LOT for the story when it's not being played painfully straight, like with Naruto. Some of the greater stories involve prophecy and how to use it well. Probably my favorite story of prophecy is Oedipus Rex.

It could simply be that Boruto doesn't figure out how to control it until later. Kakashi needed some 10-20 years to use Mangekyou. Besides, this was obviously set up this way: The Manga about his post-movie years and the Anime about his pre-movie years, so they won't run into this endless meaningless filler problem. with coordination between the writers, the Anime can be meaningful.

It would basically mean keeping an eye on every single kid all the time.

It's Truth in Television. I've got two nephews, and if they told me some fantastical story, i'm gonna assume they made it up. Kids fantasize all the time.

We haven't seen much of that yet. We don't know what happened to the others. We know the kids are aware that the attackers were being possessed so they'd forgive them. Naruto is now aware people are acting weird and losing chakra. Shino claims to have been possessed, which Naruto saw before so i don't see why he'd be in a straight jacket.
Naruto/Boruto isn't western, and it's still not set in modern times. Our laws or sense of justice doesn't apply.
Naruto was also a shonen series. Making Boruto slice of life would be the surest way to destroy any interest, since Slice of Life fans wouldn't expect it in Boruto and Naruto fans would want what they came for, IE battles.
Thanks for clarifying! The whole thing makes a lot more sense now.
So far, the show an' characters are pretty great. It was an interesting & refreshing twist that Iwabe, rather than forming a Naruto-vs-Sasuke style rivalry with Boruto, became his friend instead.
Boruto's personality makes sense considering he's the elder child of the Hokage, but I wish there'd be more of Himawari for contrast on how the 2 sibllings deal with Naruto being so busy 24/7.
Sumire, Sarada, Shikadai and Inojin are okay so far. Not particularly spectacular, but not boring or cliche either.
Metal and Chocho are hilarious plus very much their own characters rather than Next Gen. copies of their parents.
Mitsuki is mysterious, an' there is plenty of room for him to grow into the boy we saw in the Movie.
Thoughts?
Why the hell are they rehashing this special treatment BS with Boruto, seriously no wonder people are accusing him of being a Gary Stu. They might as well call him the 2nd Child of Prophecy and ignore the fact that such a cliché is what killed part 2 for a lot of people.
Ancladar wrote: That's one of my main problems with the series. That and Naruto being a bad dad. When they didn't believe Boruto when he said he had awakened Byakugan and made him feel like crap it was so infuriating.
Uhm... Naruto specifically says he believes Boruto.
Naruto also isn't a bad dad. He's fine. I've seen bad dads, compared to them Naruto is father of the year. There's stuff to work on for him, but there ALWAYS is. There's always more time to spend, there's always more to do, to say, to want.
Naruto is an absentee dad but he ain't a bad one, it's just the job of running a village tends to keep you busy and besides had the Boruto manga and anime not decided to treat the loyal fans like dribbling idiots and recap pre-movie stuff nobody wanted or asked for we could be seeing father-son bonding post movie by now in these episodes but nooooooo we have to endure another movie recap because clearly anime watchers have short term memory loss.
You're right about Naruto, but I for one am glad they're starting from when Boruto is in the Academy since the story itself so far is AWESOME. We're introduced to the characters properly an' see their friendships grow (so hopefully no need for excessive amounts of flashbacks).
To be honest it's all a hit and miss for me, if they wanted to put Boruto in an academy setting, they could have at least done it in a post movie setting. I know, technically Boruto would have graduated by then but they could have come up with some BS about extra curriculum if the creators really needed some Academy action besides it's not like it would be unrealistic for the Academy to operate differently than it did during Naruto's generation.
So far I can't help but dislike sumire. She's bland, and her outfit is really bizarre. It's like this schoolgirl out fit but with shorts, I guess, because she's like studious or something? Whatever. It looks out of place as hell and Sumire is a bit of a mary sue. I hoped this episode would have changed my view on her but no such luck. However we did get to see a lot more of cho cho in this episode, and she's great. She's a bit silly and dramatic, but you can gather that she does have strong values that she sees through in her own Cho Choey way from this episode.
