Why is Boruto's name not mentioned in known wielders of Byakugan?

    • Because there's currently no solid confirmation that's really the Byakugan he's shown wielding in the manga prologue. Anime did complicate things even more, since eye looks rather like a Tenseigan, but it's also hard to discern what it actually is.

    • It's a "Tensei Byakugan" likewise Rinne Sharingan lol. We will see as will evolve the story. u.u

It can't be the Tenseigan, at least not yet. Boruto's Dojutsu looks far more like a Byakugan. Just having a blue outline doesn't change he fact it looks like one.

    • True, but for the time being it's better to wait and see how the situation develops. It may be something completely new, it may be an underdeveloped byakugan.

Or may just be a unique type of Byakugan?

We also never saw the Moon Otsutsuki's byakugan, it could be theirs. Point is, too early too tell. I seem to be one of the few that still remembers the whole Karin deal, what with how eager people are to change the wiki.

Except here we should either put a placeholder for Boruto's dojutsu, or chose which dojutsu it most resembles. We can always change it with more information.

The most correct way would simply be a new page for Boruto's right eye.

It doesn't really resemble any eye: it can see chakra and spirits which makes it Rinnegan-like, looks like a Byakugan and works like no eye before (as it reacted on it's own).

    • Why is it blue? Why does it turn the whites of his eye black? Why don't his veins bulge?

It could be a Byakugan. But considering the anime is using Kishi's art style, we can't assume it is a Byakugan because it just looks too different. Besides, if it was a Byakugan, I think Boruto would notice he suddenly had close to 360 degree vision/

    • This eye can be turned on and off unlike the Rinnegan that is always active. We also do not know if the Tenseigan is always active. I think that this eye is a new dojutsu.

    • yeah, he would kinda like, see through people, so... and rinne isn't always active. madara activated and deactivated quite a few times, and in the movie, when sasuke was fighting momo he only had his normal sharingan activated (I can show u pictures of all of the above, if u want me to).

    • maybe it's a tenseigan in the process of maturing like Toneri's did?

Character sheets suggest that he always has it active. It was likely just omitted in the movie (as a normal audience wouldn't be able to see it anyway, and money spent on showing the Rinnegan is better spent on stuff that matters). I mean, he has it active at tons of moments where it makes no sense, why wouldn't it be active a the moment it does?

As to Madara, Madara was an Edo Tensei. It's not exactly representative of a person's real abilities. When Madara was alive, he never switched back to Mangekyou to Genjutsu someone.

The Tenseigan is a more powerful version of the Byakugan, yet Boruto's eye isn't even matching a Byakugan in power. So no, it's not a Tenseigan in the process of maturing, it seems more like a weak byakugan to me. Or, well, something completely new.

    • Tenseigan (Hamura) is Otsutsuki(moon) + Hyuga. Rinnegan (Hagoromo) is Senju-Uzumaki(Asura) + Uchiha (Indra). This eye is a new dojutsu because Boruto is Uzumaki + Hyuga, a combination never seen! This eye has some powers of Rinnegan and some of Tenseigan.

        Loading editor
    • yes, but its not a misxture, by simple fact that the uzumaki dont have a dojutsu. its gonna be a byaku, since there is no reason for his uzumaki blood to affect his hyuga blood. and, like I said multiple times before, the tenseigan needs unknown seals, and some hamura blood/dna.... he literally doesn't have anything of the above. so no tenseigan, by the last time.

In fact in "Boruto Movie", the character of Momoshiki has (after absorbing Kinshiki) byakugan with a black sclera and without the typical eye veins activated; and style remains to Kishimoto. For the moment, to "aesthetics level",in the anime the eye looks it's more like (apart from the blue color of Boruto and lilac Momoshiki) with this. Doubts remain instead on the real capacity of the eye. P.S. sorry for my english but it's not my native language, though I hope I was clear

    • Boruto's Sclera was black when the dojutsu was activated just like Momoshinki's Byakugan in his final form, and Momoshinki was the one who gave Boruto this power. Could be a connection or a coincidence.

    • Lol i've actually thought about that myself plenty of times but never put it into words like you just did. It may be a little far-fetched and sounds a little crazy but i could see that being the cause for the black sclera, but then again nobody knows *mysterious music plays*
