the color of a susanoo is related to the users Chakra signature. each shinobi's chakra has a different color to the naked eye it is blue but to people who can sense and distinguish the difference they can see the individual color of the chakra. susanoo is a manifestation of the users chakra in the form of a guardian deity because of this they have different colors
^I would imagine so. Indra's Susanoo was purple in color, and since Sasuke is the latest reincarnation of Indra, his would similarly be purple
In contrast, Madara was also a reincarnation of Indra, but at the same time he unknowingly combined Indra's chakra with that of Asura's (from Hashirama's DNA), recreating Hagoromo's chakra in addition to giving him the Rinnegan. As a result, his Susanno color 'probably' changed from purple to the blue color we saw
Thanks so much. So you're saying the true color of Sasuke chakra is purple?
Probably. Aside from his Susanoo, the chakra that swirls around him when he had his cursed seal is a similar colour (though that may have technically been Orochimaru's colour). The cover of chapter 671 also had him in front of a purple depiction of Indra (the deity), while the Asura behind Naruto was yellow (which was confirmed to be his colour early in the manga).
Yes, Susanoo color is same color as the user's chakra. And the user's chakra color is... something they are born with I suppose... but it can possibly change under some circumstances.
Sasuke's chakra is actually violet or dark blue... let's say violet-blue :D it's purple only in the anime. Indra has the same chakra color as Beyond says.
And Naruto's chakra is yellow, same as Asura's, but certainly individuals such as Seelentau would still like to argue about that.
Early in the series when Jiraiya asks Naruto about how he would describe the feel of the two different chakras he has accessed, Naruto said that he would compare the feeling of Kurama's chakra to color red, while the feeling of his own chakra compare to yellow. Seelentau takes that this was merely a figure of speech for the purpose of comparison, but later evidence proves it as literal, since Kurama's chakra IS actually red and so IS Naruto's yellow as shown. So while he may have used those colors back then non-literary as figure of speech to compare the feeling of the two chakras, well, he was ironically right, because he described the right colors.
We clearly see (in earlier coloured art anyway) that Naruto's chakra is in fact yellow, and Kurama's is in fact red, so it definitely seems to be more than a metaphor. Though there's also the argument that yellow may be everybody's chakra colour in the manga, just like blue is the generic colour in the anime. Sadly, Naruto and Kurama are the only ones whose chakra colour was actually mentioned in dialogue, so we're left with only a handful of coloured manga pages to try to figure anybody else's out. And these days Kishimoto seems to generally use the anime's colour scheme rather than his own (Naruto's Rasengan is blue and his Chakra Mode is orange tinted, etc.) but at least Sasuke's chakra retained its distinct dark blue/violet colouring right until the end.
Yeah. So to answer it fully, color of Susanoo has no meaning to it, just is the same color as the user's chakra. Emotions etc. don't have any relevance to the Susanoo's color.
@Beyond, Ao mentioned distinctly remembering Shisui's chakra color, meaning that chakra color in the canon is different from individual to individual, so yellow doesn't seem to be the manga chakra color for everyone, otherwise Ao wouldn't have been able to distinguish Shisui's from everybody's else.
Besides chakra color varying from individual to individual, I wonder if there is some more relevance to it.
For example, Naruto's chakra is yellow in the canon, but so is Itachi's (not red or orange as the anime and games show it) and sure, they have some things in common, but it wouldn't seem like the color of one's chakra alone says anything about the individual's personality or other traits, since Sasuke has gone from good to evil and back several times and his chakra color has stayed the same, only its feeling/aura has changed.
And his normal Rasengan was drawn blue. And A's raiton chakra was drawn yellow. And Naruto's fox cloak was drawn yellow. And Tsunade's medical chakra was drawn blue. And Mei's yoton chakra was drawn yellow. And Naruto's Rasengan was drawn yellow. And Sasuke's raiton chakra was drawn blue.
There's nothing to explain, Naruto's words were a metaphor. He never literally said "my chakra is yellow". His words were "if I had to put it in colours, I would say my chakra is yellow". The manga isn't clear on what colour exactly normal chakra is, but it DOES make clear that Naruto's chakra is not yellow.
Um, before Kishi switched to the anime's blue Rasengan, most likely for the anime fan appeal, it was drawn as yellow for Naruto. And on the cover with Hagoromo, Naruto and Sasuke, those things behind them are obviously meant to represent Asura and Indra and guess what colors they are.
Leaves all the other examples of inconsistency as well as Naruto's metaphor you continue to misunderstand.
But then again, after frequenting the Naruto subreddit more than in the past, I learned that the Naruto fandom in general is pretty un- and miseducated and would rather believe their own headcanon than trust in manga facts provided by me.
I'm sorry about your hurt ego Mr. Masashi Kishimoto, oh, wait... nowhere in the canon does it say that Naruto's chakra is NOT yellow. I KNOW what he said early on was just a metaphor, so lets please forget about that, I'm talking about the later colored cover depictions. And yes, I know Rasengan switched to blue towards the end, but it's very likely that it was only because of anime and games, to maintain consistency while working with them. For example, the anime colors Kurotsuchi's eyes differently than the manga, yet they were kept anime-color for Boruto movie even though Kishimoto was involved in it.
The anime and games and all other 3rd party media have been coloring chakra in majority of cases blue since the beginning, that's how the fandom knows it to be. So chakra = blue is the most recognizable because of all the animated material, all the video games and the fandom's perception, so perhaps Kishimoto started to color Naruto's Rasengan blue for fan convenience.
Unlike you 'Mr. I know the best and even if I don't, I'm still less wrong than you' I'm not just going to ignore the Kishimoto made colorings where Naruto's Rasengan is yellow, ignore that chakra mode even is yellow and that 'Asura' depiction on cover is also the same color. It's pretty obvious to me, especially since the 'Indra' depiction is the same color as Sasuke's Susanoo and all colored depictions of his chakra from earlier.
God, this kind of "arguing" is sooo dumb. Naruto's chakra wasn't stated to be yellow, but it was also not not stated to be yellow, so it MUST be yellow. What kind of logic is that? You make the claim, I counter it and then you say that there's no proof that I'm right? I never made a claim myself, all I do is countering what you (or others) say.
Point is, chakra has been depicted differently thoughout the entire series. It's not yellow per se. Not for Naruto, not for anyone.
Except it has been drawn more than once as yellow for Naruto. His freaking Rasengan was drawn yellow until the 4th Shinobi World War. His freaking chakra mode is yellow. 'Asura' was drawn the same color and you dare to say that it has never been depicted as yellow in Naruto's case? Well, no point in dumb arguing, I can just post pictures, but I'm sure you have seen them all too. It may have never ever been stated in words to be yellow, besides a metaphor, true, but it surely has been drawn yellow more than once.
I have never said that it has never been depicted at yellow. Your arguments are, from my understanding:
Naruto says/implies that his chakra is yellow.
His Rasengan being blue is for anime fans.
Right? Well, my counter arguments are:
Naruto makes a metaphor to explain how his and Kurama's chakra works.
Why would Kishimoto suddenly change the Rasengan's colour for the anime fans, when the anime depicted it as blue decades ago?
What's more, when the Rasengan is first shown on a volume cover, it's yellow. Then, four covers later, Chojis wings are suddenly blue. Then, two covers later, Naruto's Futon chakra is blue. Then, one cover later, A's Raiton chakra is yellow (despite Sasuke's Chidoi being blue earlier). Then, sometime later, Kurama's chakra cloak is yellow.
Sadly, I don't have access to all coloured chapter covers right now, so I can't argue with those.
Few statements in the canon more than imply that not all chakra is the same color. Ao recognizes color of Shisui's chakra in Danzo. If all chakra were to be yellow or blue, this wouldn't be possible.
So in the very least, chakra color differs among individuals, not just Tailed Beasts and others. I have no idea if nature transformation has any effect on color of chakra though.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't Kurama's chakra been stated to be red in text too at least once? Yet when Naruto uses it in chakra modes, it's yellow or yellow with orange tint, consistently, no blue fox chakra cloak.
It's just my assumption of course, that Naruto's Rasengan got changed into blue because of anime and games, but seems quite reasonable.
If you were to ask the average fan what color the Rasengan is, the answer would 99% be blue, because it's been blue in anime and games (excluding Kurama influence etc.) very few fans would know that the manga author has colored it yellow few times. Hell, even if only just a metaphor, the anime changed it from 'i would compare mine to yellow and the other one to red' to 'mine blue other red'
3rd parties decided to color chakra in most cases blue, that's a fact. And even excluding the metaphor, Kishimoto colored it yellow more than once before the blue started to appear, so in the very least his might have thought about Naruto's chakra being yellow.
In the very least, I hope you agree that chakra has at least been implied to be more than just one color in canon. Kishi just rarely colored it or made a mention of it in dialogue and when he did, just for very few characters and even that has been inconsistent. My argument for Naruto's chakra being yellow is that Kishimoto colored it yellow more times than blue, chakra cloak is yellow and 'Asura phantom' or what shit got also colored yellow, while 'Indra phantom' got colored same color as Sasuke's Susanoo and earlier chakra depictions, meaning the Asura phantom's color was in that instance meant to represent color of Naruto's chakra, excuse my German.
Sasori's chakra threads are also blue on volume 55's cover, so at least that's consistent. There's also the fact that Kisame mistook Guy's blue/green aura of sweat as chakra, which suggests it may be a common colour. Even though we know people have chakra with different colours (at least when viewed by dōjutsu), it seems highly unlikely Kishimoto ever really put any thought into what each person's chakra looked like (otherwise he could have just had Ao mention Shisui's colour, for instance).
It's just that he used to be pretty consistent about drawing Naruto's chakra and techniques yellow (or red/orange with Nine-Tails influence) up until the last couple of years. Curious if anybody has access to any of the earlier artbooks, since they may be the first place that Rasengan was coloured. The newest one obviously contains a mix of blue and yellow, since it covers from before volume 52 up until the end.
Naruto's Rasengan was depicted yellow twice on volume covers, but once it was the Rasenrangan thingy (when he is in 9TCM). I do have all artbooks, but I really don't want to plug my external hard drive in just for that. :D
It sounds like Blue and Yellow are THE General chakra colors. Like if its not one then its the other. In Dragon Ball which Naruto is heavily inspired by.. Ki is generally depicted as either Blue or Yellow. So it seems normal Chakra and Ki are always Blue or Yellow.
