  • Another week of filler but at least we're seemingly heading towards the climax of the arc with Sasuke vs Naruto and Akatsuki attacking Konoha? For the top 4 Root members, i would expect them to demonstrate some unique skills like Torune and Fū but no dice.

    • Boring mix-and-match of actual canon plot. This is Sasuke Retrieval Arc done post timeskip, with the final battle being a weird Sasuke vs Itachi, only actually Naruto, from what next week's promo looks like.

    • It was OK, seems like we're back to weird pacing again. For a mission supposed to be on the clock, there's an awful lot of standing around.

My major annoyance is that after some time of trying to make Nagato and Yahiko somewhat different, we're now back to full-on revenge Nagato and Yahiko is apparently this universe's Kenny: he dies no matter what. For the Plotz i guess. Nagato is so comically easily persuaded it was the Leaf (did you do it? no. Ok i believe you.) that it hurts his character.

    • I am yet to actually watch the episode, but I'm just confused as to why the anime is doing all this filler seeing as the manga ended ages ago and thus no longer needs to stay X amount of pace behind. At this point they could just follow the manga and have each characters Tsukuyomi dream thing be a few minutes (seeing as in the manga each character only had 1/3 of a page), even half to a whole episode would do, none of this whole arc for one characters dream that we've got going now

    • You know what I realize just now? A Storm game is about to release WAYbefore the corresponding portion of the anime airs. That's truly unprecedented.

Now onto the topic, I really hate it when "on the clock missions are dragged out. At lease we're about to see Sage Mode Naruto vs CS1 Sasuke: Battle of Senjutsu!!!

no its not, same thing happened with Storm 3. went past the anime at the time too...

    • The Akatsuki subplot was pretty bland, same old "Konoha-must-suffer" stuff we already know. Also, how come Yahiko was totally incinerated by the explosion while the teddy bear flew back a bit rampaged, but relatively okay? And then later on, Nagato uses Yahiko's completely restored body again...? What....?

I liked the fighting scene between Tenten and Yugao, the latter had some really cool moves and a very ninja-like fighting style in general, which I loved a lot. But then Tenten blocked the deadly assassination attack...with a frying pan. God, when will this end....?

    • The filler episodes could be its own anime by now I would say, Naruto: Retarden.

Because they can. Naruto is a hugely successful anime, and the lack of canon material never stopped them before, it won't stop them now.

    • It wasn't a bad idea, an AU like that, but the execution is... Well, meh at best. Which is a shame.

I think it was a brilliant idea. The execution ranges from meh to very bad. For example, despite the fact that Minato dying was a huge deal in Part 1, now it seems it would´ve mattered very little. We´re still in the same situation. Naruto is still mostly Naruto, despite the fact that his loneliness was a huge aspect of his character, and Sasuke losing his clan and wanting revenge was a huge part of his.

But this filler essentially tells us that these people would´ve been the same no matter what.

its filler i wouldnt think too deeply on Studio Pierotts garbage interpretations of these characters.

    • Some people try to justify it with Naruto and Sasuke being reincarnations of Ashura and Indra, therefore nothing ever changes, no matter in what conditions they were raised....which is a very lazy way of thinking, in my opinion. SP just doesn't care anymore. They can do whatever they want to milk the series, and the main audience (Japan) is fine with it. Sad, but can't be helped.

that, it was the only thing that stopped me from giving this episode a 5/5 :(

    • I don't get it.. how the hell did Sasuke get the CS and know to use it so good so fast in the previews for the next episode?? Either that or he got it before he left Konoha somehow?? idk..

    • Well, if that's the question, we'll also have to ask how did he get a 3-Tomoe Sharingan presumably not so long after becoming a genin.

    • And here's another one. How was Sakura able to use the Mystical Palm Technique before her training with Tsunade?

        Loading editor
    • well, at least there is one way to explain all unlogical things in the filler: It is a Dream! lol, and it even fits as in-story explanation as opposed to regular unlogical fillers ^_^

    • But still I don't see the creation of alternalive storylines as an appropriate way for anime to move forward.

    • The total flaw is Orochimaru's appearance. He should not be in that body at that time.

        Loading editor
    • That's not a flaw, he can change all of his bodies to look like his original form.. and every body he is in lasts a tad over 3 years. So he is about to be rejected hence he needs Sasuke's body asap. Stupid ass Sasuke doesn't realize that he is about to be taken and not trained.

        Loading editor
    • Owh, but Naruto will be too powerful since he's already learning the Sage skill.

        Loading editor
    • Senjutsu isn't much of a help against Orochimaru.. he can absorb it and he knows everything about it already.

        Loading editor
    • OK, we will see the result then this week. Hope it will not be disappointing.

Unlike some people i don't have a standard hatred for fillers. I like the idea of the filler, i just don't think it's executed very well.

That has got to be one of the most depressing justifications

    • Does anyone know when this filler will end and when that actual story ark will begin again?

        Loading editor
    • ^if we consider 2-5 episodes max for each person and lets assume that here are around 40 or so named chars who have more than a few small showtimes than i would say we get max 200 or so episodes of filler XD yeah, in 4 or so years we should finally get out of this nightmare ^_^

    • Last year, they ended the filler arc in March. This year maybe will be the same again, though.

The expectation is june-july. Remember that only the Kaguya battle remains, which is about 13 manga chapters, and assuming the normal rate will be followed, thats about seven episodes.

I don't think so. I'm sticking with this March. Actually, 25 manga chapters which is 13 anime episodes.

Its A Dream About A Book Made By Jiraiya, And Jiraiya Has No Real Knowledge About Anything Apparently, XD Btw, Don't Forget About The Itachi Shinden Books Which Will Start In March And Span Atleast 20 Episodes, Because U Can't Do Something Like 2 Books In 10 Episodes, It Would Be Super Rushed And Dumb. So At Minimum There's Like, 43 Episodes Left, Because Of The Supposed Kaguya Filler Too, Not To Mention The Naruto VS Sasuke Final Battle, Which Would Be Another 5 Episodes Probably.

there is no Kaguya filler, FFS. and Itachi Shinden Arc in Spring, then back to canon.

This filler, then Itachi Shinden in Spring (so probably March), then canon after that. could be a few months depending on how many episodes Shinden takes.

i highly doubt that they will let it end with that, im sure the studio can get around 10 or so episodes via extra flashbacks and some more basic taijutsu fighting moves (or naruto and sasuke use techs which they didnt use at all in the manga before going into gigantic-chakra-avatar fights :D )

with the 43 episodes and the more or less 30 or so episodes of the kaguya arc (if not more) we will be around 75 episodes, than sasuke and naruto getting ready to fight again will take another 2 episodes, than their fight getting extended via flashbacks, maybe a dream-filler here and there and than the final with more fillers and a 10 minutes speech of sasuke and about "how blind he was", than a short look into the future with naruto as hokage and boruto as annoying brat,

than they announce a 6 months or so break until boruto: the next generation begins as anime,

OR they will put fillers into the story and create totally new stuff which shows the chars slowly getting older and more expeirenced plus the way how the other pairings happened (i can totally imagine a filler mission with choji and the lightning-country-chick where she hates him at first but at the end falls for him after seeing his look post-calorie-control usage XD )

Gaiden and the two movies could potentially be turned into anime, who knows. Lack of canon didn't stop them with Naruto, it won't stop them with Shippuden.

        Loading editor
    • ^yeah, as long as cash comes they wont stop :( but i should be honest: i want them to extend after ch.699, i want to see how the chars grow up, come together and become a family, exspecially how sasuke and sakura relationship looked like XD

    • So this is my prediction:

      • September 2015-March 2016: Jiraiya Arc
      • April 2016-June 2016: Itachi Arc
      • July-September 2016: Final Arc
      • October-December 2016: Boruto Arc
        Loading editor
    • ^maybe they wont timeskip between final and boruto arc, that means they could put 100 or more expisodes between them and at that point the borto manga would have some content, they could animate this canon material and add fillers in order to let the manga get more content again ^_^

Itachi Shinden Light And Dark Were Stated To Be Starting In March. But ALOT Longer Than That. I Predict The Books To Go Atleast Until Maybe July-August. Also There's 2 Arcs After That, The Kaguya Fight Which Yeah Is Probably Around 20-30 Episodes, Which Is Like 8 Months Of Content, Which Would End Around March Of Next Year At The Most Amount From July, Or With 20 Episodes, December At The Earliest. And Then There's The Naruto VS Sasuke Fight And Chapter 700, Which Would Probably Be 7 Episodes At Most. (These Calculations Are Without Them Making More Filler.) Also What Is This Boruto Arc U Guys Are Talking About? lol

lol what Kaguyas fight is less than 15 chapters and theres at least 2-3 chapters per episode. and about 8 ch. for nardo VS Sauce which is defintely less than 7 episodes. you are way off...

It's essentially a "best of: Naruto" arc.

Well they can't turn it into a literal clip show, but this episode basically proves that it's for no other reason than to show fan-favorite moments once more, even though the context was what made it awesome, not the actual moments.
