Hi there
This is a consensus discussion regarding one of the inactive sysops, User:Simant. Contributions here: Special:Contributions/Simant
In the past, Simant was one of the main people involved in the coding aspects of the wiki. He maintained most of the infoboxes and was the go-to person regarding most coding issues. However, he stopped coming to the wiki around 25th May 2014 last year and hasn't been seen since: attempts to contact him via his talkpage have gone ignored.
Normally, inactive admins are simply left as a memorial of their contributions. However, I don't really see the point in this as it serves little purpose and clogs the wiki list a little. Most of the duties that Simant did as a sysop are carried out by others, such as Dantman, UltimateSupreme and Snapper2. There's nothing indicating that Simant has disabled his account either.
I'm bringing this up now, primarily on the basis that we have a habit of picking different policies from Wikipedia: one of the policies listed there indicates that inactive sysops are liable for getting a consensus if they're inactive for a whole year, since most sysops who go inactive for such a long period of time generally won't be returning. Plus, the majority of wiki's follow a similar policy in any case, so it seems reasonable to point out that Simant is not active here.
So yeah, please vote and discuss below. Remember: the vote will aid the discussion, not decide the outcome fully. So please give reasons and don't just support for no reason.
Thank you.
