    • So this movie will be a part of some trilogy perhaps?

        Loading editor
    • There's no mention of that... I expect that this will be a multimedia project, but there's no telling what sort of media it will entail apart from the movie. Books, games, anime, manga... could be anything.

That being said, if the manga does come to an end, I wouldn't be surprised to see it continue with a canon film series, similar to what Toriyama is now doing with Dragon Ball Z. That first One Piece movie supervised by Oda has definitely started a trend of movies supervised by the original manga-ka, and they've all done significantly better at box office than the original stories created by the anime staff.

      What is a Naruto GT?

    • Come to think of it, Naruto does deserve a proper epilogue. Starting a whole new series is too much though. Hope the movie clears it all up!

A "Naruto GT" is a play off of Dragonball GT, the anime-only sequel to Dragonball Z, not made by Toriyama but instead made by the company that produced the Dragonball Z anime. Rather short, the series brought the series to a conclusion but has since been plagued by a sizable fanbase that dismiss the series as being a stain on the Dragonball legacy, essentially keeping the series alive longer than it needed to and doing a lot of things to people's favorite characters that the fans saw as unnecessary or asinine.

My fear of a Naruto GT is that it'll follow a similar format; a anime (or movie)-only sequel to the manga that may or may not be done by Kishimoto, that may have the potential to do unnecessary or asinine things to characters and generelly keeping things going way past when they need to (in this case the 4th Ninja War which should bring about an end to all wars between the villages).

        Loading editor
    • Kinda offtopic question, isn't DB GT in any way canon or at least acknowledged or "blessed by" Toriyama guy?

        Loading editor
    • That was the question for decades. Toriyama gave it his blessing and even drew a picture of Super Saiyan 4 Goku, but from there it was split down who liked the series; those who loved GT saw it as part of the main canon, while those who didn't like it, well didn't.

That all changed however with the release of Battle of the Gods, the most recent Dragonball movie that is officially canon and renders all of Dragonball GT impossible (for example; GT starts off with Emperor Pilaf and his gang as old people trying to get the Black Star Dragon Balls to wish for youth, BotGs has Pilaf and his gang already kids after having found the dragons and fudged up their wish.) Add to a recent interview stating that Goku will probably never reach a new level of Super Saiyan and will probably never go higher than SS1 kinda seals the deal for GT.

And I know way to much about this topic.

        Loading editor
    • You can never know too much about dragonball. :D Except that live action movie...

    • Elveonora wrote: Kinda offtopic question, isn't DB GT in any way canon or at least acknowledged or "blessed by" Toriyama guy?

      His involvement was very limited.

Moreover, the entire DB anime series (DB/Z/GT) is pretty much non-canon, or at least a seperate continuity. Toriyama's more recent work on the series (spinoff manga, movies, even the cancelled MMO) has contradicted a lot of the original content that was created for the anime.

        Loading editor
    • Weird, because from what I could gather, he wrote the premise for GT, made the character designs etc.

        Loading editor
    • He didn't write anything for GT.

He designed the characters for the anime company, at their request, but he didn't write anything for them (and even then that was limited. Their own guys designed most of the characters, including Super Saiyan 4, and Toriyama pretty much designed whatever they couldn't). Toei did it all themselves. The fact that Toriyama is now directly involved with writing movies that continue his series, blowing GT out of the water, further's this.

        Loading editor
    • I think a Naruto GT can be avoided due to the large amount of loose ends that main story has. Some of the movies do not even have to be centered on Naruto himself, rather, they could be "filler movies" that help explain background/provide info on other characters in the future.

        Loading editor
    • The only thing I really liked about GT was the SS4 transformation. In the original Dragon Ball, when Goku was a kid, it had a great story, but the fights and transformations weren't as good as DBZ, whereas DBZ had a good story, great fights and transformations, and the best movies. GT had good transformations, decent fights but the story was wack! I'm sure Toriyama wrote nothing or close to nothing for GT. Goku turning into a child? Really? The Earth will self-destruct because of some Black-Star Dragon Balls that spread across the universe rather than the Earth? And still only grant one wish? And I would have rather had Goku journey with more powerful characters like Vegeta and Gohan and have them more involved in the story, rather than Trunks (no disrespect) and the annoying girl that is Pan! I only like the transformations and the fights in GT. Golden Great Ape Goku losing control reminded you of him in the original Dragon Ball, and the awesome SS4 transformation were Goku was in control reminded you of DBZ, but the story of GT sucked. Goes to show that anime-only stories don't compare to manga ones. I'm sure Toriyama-sama didn't have that much involvement in GT like how Kishimoto-sensei doesn't any in the Naruto anime.

        Loading editor
    • Fights were boring because characters were too underpowered you had an attack with the power of the universe only cutting out a trench in the ground.

Yes, in DB, characters were too underpowered, making the fights not as good as DBZ fights. By DBZ, characters could destroy planets.

    • People, this is NARUTOpedia. Anyways, I do miss DBZ myself :(

    • Don't trust Dragon Ball Wiki for information. They all believe GT is canon and verbally flog anyone who says otherwise. That section that you linked is the result of their own beliefs, not of actual fact.

        Loading editor
    • A Naruto GT? I'd rather not have that happen. It sounds like just a bunch of bad filler. I'd rather just have the Rock Lee spin off keep going, but I heard that ended July 4th (Though I question if that is true). I know three more chapters of that were released (Two of which featured Minato and Kushina and Team Minato), but I can't find a translated version to find if it's really over. As for DBZ...Haha, I know nothing except that over-used "over 9,000" joke. I never watched or bothered with the show because I for some reason hated its art.

    • Yeah, DB graphics aren't very good, but then again, it was made from 80 to early 90's I believe.

        Loading editor
    • I would argue fights in Dragon Ball were more interesting than the ones in DBZ because they were underpowered. When fights were decided with superior skill and cunning and not which one could blow up more of the universe, things were far more interesting, at the cost of course of not being super flashy.

But Toriyama said that Goku wouldn't be going past Super Saiyan 1 going forward so maybe skill and technique may actually come back.

The film's tagline on the poster is Naruto, the Last Episode. (ナルト、最後の物語。, Naruto, Saigo no Episōdo.)

Another section notes that "the fate of everything will finally be decided" (ついに全ての因縁が決着へ) and that this is a Naruto that only Kishimoto has seen up until now.

It either says 170 or 173 cm with the 0 crossed out, I think, but that's quite a growth spurt either way.

Made this just to illustrate it (I marked off the bottom 100 cm to make sure it was to accurate scale).

    • To be perfectly honest, considering how all the Kage are just kinda hanging around, it is possible they can be revived through some sort of BS.

It'll be the Invasion of Pain + Half of Dragonball Z all over again, but it is within the realm of reason all things considered.

Or he's just in a flashback, or Naruto speaks to his chakra again. There are plenty of ways for him to appear without making it an alternate universe.

I agree, actually. It makes him look more mature and it draws a clear distinction from Minato.

It seems kind of strange for the reason for 90% of the series to die, but to be honest, if he has a good death, I wouldn't care. I don't dislike Sasuke, but he's not a favorite of mine.

Sasuke is my favorite character, and so I don't want him to die, or at least not in this battle against Kaguya. But despite the fact that he is my favorite character, if he dies in the Kaguya battle, then I think this would be a big misstep for the sake of the story. Sasuke's goal to become Hokage and revamp the shinobi system is a very interesting plot point, and it's definitely something that should be expanded upon after the War. If Kishi kills Sasuke just for the sake of him not having to expand on Sasuke's goal after the War, I think that will be the supreme example of lazy writing. An author should never kill off a character for the sake of not expanding on a certain plot point- especially if that plot point is very important in the development of a story, which Sasuke's goal absolutely is.

If Kishi kills Sasuke for the sake of not expanding on Sasuke's Hokage goal, will that infuriate anyone else?

Noteworthy was the phrase, "moving forward from the original work—!" (原作の、その先へ—) which basically confirms that we're looking at the start of the post-manga phase for this franchise.

"Finally, the end is here," doesn't this mean that the entire series is just going to end with the movie? Plus from what I'm seeing on earlier posts, it looks as if the Naruto series is going to stop with the movie. :/ we shouldn't get our hopes up.

The reason why it says "finally, the end is here" is because the manga will end around the time the movie is released. Is the 30 second trailer the full trailer that was supposedly supposed to be released today? Is that what was released in Japanese theaters?

I'm not sure if that was supposed to be the official trailer or not. I'm waiting for confirmation from FF-Suzaku, Shakhmoot, or someone else who usually knows what's going on with this. I refuse to believe the 30 second teaser was the trailer shown in theaters- after all, there was nothing important in the 30 second teaser. All it was was a few extra panels of the manga, and that's it.

So yeah, conflicts were, conflicts are and conflicts will be and Naruto is not gonna change that.

Conflicts with Sasuke by no doubt.

So basically the 30 second teaser trailer was the "full trailer" that was supposed to be released today? Wow, that's extremely disappointing. It was the same trailer with more panels of the manga added onto it. I'm pretty disappointed that this is what I have been waiting for all day. I'm hoping that we get more info about the movie/a real trailer released soon.

      I can clearly read:

      • Madara (マダラ)
      • Revival (復活, Fukkatsu)
      • Infinite Tsukuyomi (無限月読)
      • Kaguya (カグヤ)
      • Great Ninja War (忍界大戦, Ninkai Taisen)
      • Hokage (火影)
      • Valley of the End (終末の谷, Shūmatsu no Tani)
      • Bonds (絆, Kizuna)

Have you learned anymore about what these key words mean? I assume that it is kind of showing us the sequence of events that will happen in the story after this War. For example, "Valley of the End" hints to the Naruto and Sasuke battle. Do you know anymore about this, and what do you think these key words mean?

        Loading editor
    • They're probably just a collage of important words and phrases from the manga, though you could obviously trace a very clear trajectory if you follow from the top right to the bottom left.

I mean, frankly, I'd be surprised if the series didn't end with one last fight between Naruto and Sasuke in the Valley of the End, on friendly terms or otherwise. Kizuna (Bonds) has come to be the single most important theme of the series, and the relationship between Naruto and Sasuke is the most important example of that.

Yeah. So, maybe Sasuke's left hand is also bandaged up. Only 4 more months to confirm all this.

    • I dunno, I would kinda want their powers to be scaled down a bit. Because honestly, it's not a ninja world when you have gigantic monsters fighting each other and explosions everywhere.

        Loading editor
    • I don't get that logic. Naruto shouldn't be forced into a freaking box as simply a "Ninja series." It can be just about whatever it wants to be, especially at this point. I'm certain that there are still enemies out there strong enough to take them on. As long as Kishi is creative with it, there are plenty of ways that they can still be Ninja's and Gods.

        Loading editor
    • I get that. Although it is true that there still are powerful enemies yet to be defeated, what I mean is that I would like to see some classic fights, like taijutsu and genjutsu. These days it's all eye stuff and advanced ninjutsu that just results in giant explosions, which makes it really repetitive and honestly, a bit boring.

    • I don't know whether this is true or not. But I guess its worth sharing. The data on the official Naruto movies facebook fanpage in the “About” section is real and not fake. HOWEVER, that section has not been edited since June 6, 2012 when the Road To Ninja movie was announced. うずまきナルト:竹内順子 春野サクラ:中村千絵 波風ミナト:森川智之 Translation: "Uzumaki: Takeuchi Junko Haruno Sakura: Nakamura Chie Namikaze Minato: Tomoyuki Morikawa" This is NOT the cast for the new film, The Last: Naruto The Movie. Kindly wait for more details on the main website instead of looking at the facebook page because that is not entirely active. Let’s avoid false assumptions as much as possible.

TL;DR version not the final cast, sasuke is NOT dead. Kakashi is not frickin dead either. minato not reborn. facebook is lame. deal with it

    • I have a theory, you see that Naruto's right arm, the one which got the Yang Seal, is bandaged for some reason and I think it's because he lost that arm and got a replacement.

I find it too simple that they would cover Naruto's arm simply not to show his latest power up of the manga since anime only viewers wouldn't even know what that symbol means much less where did it come from.

My theory is that Naruto lost his Yang arm in the battle against Kaguya and Sasuke ended up implanting it on himself to attain the full power of the Sage.

After sealing Kaguya, Sasuke does not return to Konoha, instead he reveals he was planning to remake the very foundations of the ninja system before becoming Hokage under his new order.

The manga ends with Sasuke disappearing to the shadows alongside Taka and Orochimaru, mirroring his first desertion alongside the sound four, and the movie picks it up from there by showing the decisive confrontation between Naruto and Sasuke once the later makes his move.

A battle which decides the fate of the world to come with Naruto and Sasuke having their promised fight in the big screen would be a fitting end for the whole story of Naruto.

Then the "New Era" would be a new story with new characters which takes place in the world shaped by the battle between Naruto and Sasuke.

...? How does that prove Sasuke will die? In the beginning of Part II, Sasuke wasn't revealed until after the rest of Konoha 11 as well... and after a couple of new characters in Sai and Yamato! Kishi is probably doing the same thing as the first time... keeping his most difficult and favorite character to draw under wraps for now...

    • Adult Sakura is basically Kushina with short hair, the bangs and trimming are the same.

Geez Kishi, as if you didn't like torching the shipping base on a weekly basis.

On a sidenote, I don't think they will show Sasuke. Wheter he returns to Konoha or not is one of the big misteries left hanging on the manga and spoiling it would ruin the franchise.

Personally, I think Sasuke will be the antagonist of the movie, it is meant to wrap up the whole franchise and Kishimoto promised that the Last battle would be Naruto vs Sasuke.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm liking the nods to Tsunade present in Sakura's casual design. I also feel like Sakura looks more mature in that design than she does in her combat attire.

Shikamaru's new flak jacket is interesting too. It reminds me of some of the older ones and makes me wonder whether that's the new standard or if Shikamaru decided to mix things up a bit.

    • Where do you think Sasuke's design is?

Also, we assumed that Naruto's right hand was bandaged because of the Sun tattoo, but as we've just seen, he has lost that ability and it was returned to Hagoromo. So why do you think his right arm is bandaged?

        Loading editor
    • Could just be for design. I mean you don't see the bandages on Kakashi's legs for any purpose other than design.

But this is entirely different- it's not just regular bandages, and the fact that it is just his right arm and not any other part of his body is way too suspicious.

That's great and all, but they need to show us something we haven't seen already. A new trailer, a plot synopsis, or designs for other characters- specifically either Sasuke (this one especially), Kakashi, and Minato, since he was confirmed to have a role in the film.

    • My take on the designs

Naruto - short hair looks good without the hachigane on his head. Uniform = Spirit Gun!!! Sakura - totes looks like a MILF in her casual attire. Tenten - bout time she got a proper cheongsam. Choji - looks beast. He's big, but not really fat Gaara - If Naruto is Yuusuke, then...Kuwabara? Everyone else - pretty much looks the same

Also love how no one from team 8 is represented.

    • I don't know but probably during the next few months leading up to the movie. In a way I wished they didn't bring out the character designs until a bit later because it spoils the ending of the manga.

But anyway we'll probably get Hinata's, Kiba's, Ino's and Shino's next. I doubt we'll get Sauske's until the very last minute because they don't want to say his fate just yet whether it's dead or alive or if he actually becomes Hokage or not.
