If Indra had mangekyo sharingan doesnt that mean that madara and his brother werent the first ?

    • They were the first Uchiha.

    • Indeed. It's possible that because the story goes so far into the past, the whole origin of the Sharingan itself was forgotten, or at least kept a secret after Indra's branch of the family was created in order to protect them from the downsides of the Mangenkyo... If that's the case, it's only natural that geniuses and knowledgeable people such as Madara and Izuna would look into such information to gather more power for themselves. That would also give them the title of "first shinobi alive to awaken the Mangenkyo Sharingan" after many generations that didn't know about it.

    • you dont actually need to know about it. You just need to go through the emotions

    • In a way, yes. However, it doesn't change the fact that there IS a big gap between Indra's and Madara's generations. That gap didn't have anyone capable of using the Mangenkyo, apparently. Then why kill their best friends, if the Mangenkyo was kept a secret ever since Indra's first usage if it (one possible conclusion)? It's not plausible to think like that, so I'll just remember a few things: Itachi learned from Obito (Tobi at the time) that in order to awaken the MS, Madara and Izuna killed their best friends only to acquire it. That means that Madara and Izuna already knew what power the would get by doing such a thing - Madara didn't go through emotions alone, he also knew about the MS, otherwise he wouldn't do it just for his thirst for power.

    • It's likely written on the tablet.

    • The tablet's date of creation wasn't revealed, so it's impossible to know if it was either Indra or Madara that wrote it. We don't know what kind of person Indra was in truth or what became of him after fighting his brother, except that he also had a thirst for power similar to Sasuke's or Madara's. I bet on it's creation date to be around Madara's generation, as he was one of the two shinobi to awaken the Mangenkyo in a big amount of time ever since Indra's first usage of it. That leads to another plausible conclusion or specualtion: Madara wrote the tablet. We're kind of diverging a bit from the main topic, but from we've learned so far we can all agree that Madara was the first shinobi to awaken the MS in centuries.

    • You must not read the manga properly, why would Madara decipher a tablet that he himself wrote?... It was there before Madara.

Was Madara insane enough to decipher a tablet that he created? Yeah, what Elveonora said.

    • I'm going to try and be clear here by making a few points: 1 - If I didn't read the manga or watch the anime I wouldn't even bother discussing this. 2 - There are many things that Obito and Madara themselves distorded that contradict each other. That doesn't allow us to conclude a thing. 3 - Madara was the first Uchiha to awaken the MS, according to Obito and himself. However, Indra awakened it before Madara and it's obvious why. And remember, there's no official date that states when the tablet was created. Who do you think that wrote the tablet, considering Madara the one that awakened it first like may scources suggest?

    • The sage of the six paths. My question wasnt if any other uchiha unlocked MS before madara, it was how can madara be the first when Indra did unlock it.
