Examples of comments I would add would be, "Wikia should enforce copyright", or "Wikia doesn't seem to take licensing very seriously" etc.

The license to reuse our content requires attribution, not attributing breaches the license. The license terminates when it is breached. If the license is terminated, they can't keep using the content, and adding attribution after the fact doesn't fix the problem. http://wiki.creativecommons.org/Frequently_Asked_Questions#How_can_I_lose_my_rights_under_a_Creative_Commons_license.3F_If_that_happens.2C_how_do_I_get_them_back.3F

You being alright with the fact that someone else can copy and paste your work and make it look like it was their work doesn't mean everyone else is. It's like writing a book, and seeing someone else copy it and making money without properly retributing you for your work.

    • This is a big problem, hope this gets solved! for all the wikia.

Bad comparison. A book, you own the content to. This wiki, Wikia owns the content to. They've long ago made clear they don't care enough to enforce this. It'll take alot more than just us complaining to them to make them get that.

Wikia does not own the content, period. Every person who edits this wiki keeps the copyright (ownership) of everything they contribute to this wiki, with the agreement that it can be used under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 license, which is the license that allows Wikia the permission to use this content, and allows other editors to modify and share that content, as long as they do it under that license.

If some of the editors here who wrote the actual article text that is copied without attribution were determined enough, they could talk to a lawyer and put together a DMCA takedown notice demanding that the copied content be taken down, and if Wikia refused to do it they would lose their safe harbour protection under the DMCA and the people who wrote the DMCA takedown notice would be able to sue Wikia in court. A case that Wikia would very likely lose.

    • Ah, perhaps I misunderstood then. I was under the impression that since Wikia owns the wikis we create (at least I think they do), they also owned the content.

Regardless, Wikia has yet to show any interest in actually helping us out here. I've read some of the other threads pertaining to this and seen the blogs over on Central where they were argued. Wikia is adamant that what they've "done" thus far has been sufficient, which obviously hasn't fixed our problem because we wouldn't be having this discussion otherwise.

    • Just to point out... others besides me can Special:Contact/general and ask why they are still able to use your content after breaching the license for three months...
