I was rereading Vol. 3 of the manga after reading something in a fanfiction and low and behold there IS at least ONE gun in the series. I found it on page 33 there is what looks to be a Match or Flintlock type rifle behind the counter when Tazuna and Sakura are in the shop. Am I on the last to notice list, is this just too insignificant to be mentioned as being part of the Naruto world or has Kishimoto just flat out said "No guns in the Naruto world" and forgot he drew that one rifle?
It's kinda weird that it's just that one gun I know, I wonder if Kishimoto drew it then then decided "No..Naruto's world shouldn't have guns." and left it there as a kinda tease because the next time you see a group of Nami villagers on the bridge they have crossbows instead of guns. And if they were going to fight Gato's mercenaries they would have used their guns instead for some of them even if they were only matchlock.
For all we know it could have been a dart gun or something, a dart gun has been used in the anime by medic ninja and I don't recall anyone saying nope no guns never ever in naruto nope not allowed ever lol
Why am I just seeing this :/ Any way, Kishimoto to my knowledge never said there would never be a gun in the Narutoverse, he said that the shinobi world would never include a gun in there i.e. You would never see them fighting with one. There was no mention that people outside the shinobi world didn't use guns. He also noted that he wanted to limit advanced technology in the manga but they still have medical mechanical instruments, communication devices etc. it's no big deal that there's a gun there. If you guys do want to mention that it is the only one we've ever seen then I wouldn't be on the opposing side of that.
A gun is both a weapon and technology since it appears to be a flint or matchlock and as gun technology got better the guns did themselves...but the gun is not seen in use so it should more likely go into the technology list as a mention for something civilians would use.
