Changes: The Fourth's Battle to the Death!!

"The Fourth's Battle to the Death!!" (四代目の死闘!!, Yondaime no Shitō!!, Viz: The Fourth Lord's Death Match!!) is chapter 502 of the original Naruto manga.

Summary

As Tobi moves towards Konoha, several people felt the Nine-Tails' presence, including Kakashi, the Third Hokage, and Itachi. Tobi then summons the fox causing chaos. The Third organises Konoha to battle the fox, while wondering how Kushina's seal broke, despite all the precautions. Minato enters Konoha, on Hokage Rock, causing the Nine-Tails to sense him and fire a Tailed Beast Ball at him. Minato counters the blast with Flying Thunder God: Guiding Thunder sending the blast behind Konoha, alerting the village of his presence. Minato is ambushed by Tobi, who tries to send Minato away. Using the Flying Thunder God Technique Minato quickly escapes, but Tobi follows after him. Realising that Tobi's strength and knowledge is too abnormal, Minato questions if Tobi is truly Madara Uchiha, but states it is impossible, as Madara Uchiha is dead. Tobi speculates on the matter. Minato concludes that with a technique superior to his own and his ability to control the Nine-Tails, Tobi is too dangerous to be left alive. The battle comes down to speed. They charge towards each other, Minato throwing a Flying Thunder God Kunai only to have Tobi phase through it. He then forms a Rasengan. Tobi grabs Minato's shirt, thinking he has won, only to have Minato disappear and reappear over Tobi striking him with the Rasengan.

Madara, then summons the Fox and chaos immediately ensues. The Third prepares Konoha to battle the fox, while wondering how [[Kushina Uzumaki|Kushina's]] seal broke, despite all the precautions. [[Minato Namikaze|Minato]] [[Body Flicker Technique|body flickers]] into Konoha, on his [[Hokage Monument]]. The Nine-Tails' immediately senses him and prepares to fire a [[Nine-Tailed Fox Menacing Ball]]. Minato retorts to the Fox's attack stating "Not on my watch!", quickly and easily [[Space-Time Barrier|redirecting his attack]]. Minato is ambushed by Madara, [[Madara's Teleporting Technique|who tries to send Minato away]]. Minato quickly body flickers out of Madara's jutsu and escapes, knowing his opponent could and will follow in order to take the fight away from Konoha and the Fox. Minato noting his adversary's strength and most importantly his knowledge and control over the Nine Tailed Fox, quickly asks if he is Madara Uchiha before just as quickly stating, he can't be as Madara Uchiha is dead. To which Madara sarcastically responds, "Well, I don't know about that." Minato determines that Madara's superior knowledge and abilities coupled with his influence over the Nine-Tails makes him is too dangerous to be left alive. Analyzing Madara's abilities, Minato acknowledges that their battle will be determined by speed. They charge towards each other. Almost within close-combat distance, Minato throws a [[Space-Time Kunai]] which Madara begins phasing through. As the Kunai phases through Madara's head Minato quickly forms a [[Rasengan]] in his right hand. The Kunai exits Madara's head in time for him to solidify and grab hold of Minato's shirt before he can be struck by Minato's [[Rasengan]]. As it seems Madara is victorious, Minato summons himself to the Space-Time Kunai that Madara has just successfully phased through with his [[Flying Thunder God Technique]] and thus relocating directly behind Madara as his Rasengan strikes Madara down. As his Kunai lands and pitches up Minato concludes by stating, "That was my Flying Thunder God Technique, Level 2."
