"The Current Obito" (現在のオビト, Genzai no Obito) is chapter 636 of the original Naruto manga.

Summary

As the battle between Obito and Kakashi rages on, they start to think back to their childhood days as young ninja, when they would fight under instructions from their mentor, Minato Namikaze. Kakashi remembers the "old Obito", who was just like Naruto, and argues that to protect Naruto and the "old" Obito, he will have to defeat "the current Obito". Gaining leverage in their fight, Kakashi impales Obito with a chakra-infused kunai, leaving Obito heavily wounded, while Obito stabs Kakashi with one of his black rods. Obito, unwilling to give up as well, states that defeating him will not gain any advantage to winning the war. As Kakashi observes, Obito transports back to the battlefield. Meanwhile, Madara defeats Hashirama's clone, who notes that the latter was putting too much energy restraining the Ten-Tails. A wounded Obito enters the fray only to be betrayed by Madara, who proceeds to use the latter's body to prepare for his own resurrection.
