It is a powerful genjutsu that generates a fluttering rain of sleep-inducing, illusory white feathers. Whomever sees them as they fall, piling up and covering the whole target area, will experience Eden-like bliss and fall into a state of tranquil slumber. No matter how much one resists the hypnotic spell, the desire to sleep is instinctive, and there's no fighting it. However, an experienced shinobi will be able to dispel the genjutsu before it takes effect.

Everybody within an area is subjected to the same illusion: many white feathers fluttering down from the sky. If a given target sees enough of these feathers fall, they will fall into a deep sleep.[1] Because it's a genjutsu, victims cannot be woken in conventional ways, meaning they will continue to sleep even if extensive combat is going on around them.[2] Only by dispelling the genjutsu, such as with the Genjutsu Cancel, can victims regain consciousness.[3] If targets are attentive enough, they can similarly dispel the genjutsu themselves before the feathers have lulled them to sleep.[4]

Trivia

  • In Buddhism, Nirvana is the complete state of peace, freedom from suffering, and detachment from everything in the material world. It is known as the highest point of meditation.
