Development Questions

Debuts:
  1. How many pictures should be allowed for each character in the Infobox (Pain and Kagerō Fūma have two images)
  2. Debut, most Akatsuki members have multiple "debut," for hologram and for in person (i even think I saw others, like voice only...); Should it be handled by just keeping the "in person" debuts?
  3. As for the Debut Manga and showing the title, could I perhaps add the english title to semantic properties of the volume it is contained in and then link it to Chapter Name.
Jutsu/Family:
  1. As for the family members, using only a single property (Parent), I am unsure how to remove duplicate siblings without using counter variables or array with an #arraysearch. (My workaround with arraysearch)
  2. Sorting: I'm not sure how you want the infobox to do a sort of the jutsu, since the #ask sort won't work with how I setup the single media users. (Maybe I did it wrong?)
    1. Would it be possible to streamline a custom version of ArrayExtension for the infobox and remove other features? Keeping only arraysearch, arraysort, arrayprint, arraydefine (and the things they rely on).

Definitely support sticking to one, actual debut in the debut parameter. Being mentioned/making some easter egg appearance is not a "debut". That stuff can go in trivia or work itself into a reference. ~SnapperTo 22:03, December 15, 2009 (UTC)

Images in the infobox is irrelevant, the parameter supports a special format for multiple images, so number is irrelevant. Famly is a tough thing, this is one reason why I dislike the way MediaWiki emphasizes shoving everything inside the page text. It makes mutual sibling relationships nearly impossible. As for sorting, just stick with alphabetically sorting jutsu by name, we don't need fancy grouping. Just use the template= parameter to allow you to add the (Media only) text after an item. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Dec 17, 2009 @ 23:12 (UTC)

I'm not trying to do anything fancy with sorting the jutsu names (Just trying to conform to how it is done already with anime/manga together). Look at Infobox:Sandbox to see how the jutsus are displaying properly except for being sorted. Its just that even if I do use the ask sort for one query of the media, the way I setup single media users will require a second query, and I need to sort them both together. As for removing duplicates from family look at Gaara's Characterbox, here. Family displays checking children from each parent, which causes duplicates; the code which I want to try to use to remove the duplicates can be found commented out Template:FamilyTree under the siblings part of the switch statement. As I have said before, you are doing the jutsu list wrong. You're over-complicating it. Also the game jutsu and movie jutsu should not be present on this page, even if you hide them they still bloat the infobox, not everyone has JS. And this infobox should NOT have "previous" sections. That was something to be removed in this version of the infobox, they caused nothing but trouble in the old infoboxes. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Dec 27, 2009 @ 05:21 (UTC)

Please tweak the Jutsu infobox to stop outputting "User Anime Only" and instead output User tech::Naruto Uzumaki; * or User tech::Naruto Uzumaki; Mediatype for jutsu that are "??? only" or jutsu that are "??? only" for a specific character. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Dec 27, 2009 @ 05:53 (UTC)
Done. Didn't know that semicolons could be used as separators in a single property. Simant (talk) 19:49, December 27, 2009 (UTC)
Um, could you direct me to a page that instructs in the use of queries with properties with multiple values? Simant (talk) 00:48, December 28, 2009 (UTC)
http://semantic-mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Many-valued_properties Though I may be able to handle the actual implementation. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Dec 29, 2009 @ 01:32 (UTC)
The output is a bit wrong. User tech should only output *, Anime, Game, Manga, or Movie in the second field. Things like "Anime, Manga" should output *. That field should ONLY be something other than * if it is supposed to be a "??? only" jutsu. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Dec 29, 2009 @ 01:47 (UTC)
I know it would be kinda redundant with the data but, could I include jutsu media in the User tech; if it is a single media in the jutsu media field? Simant (talk) 22:58, December 29, 2009 (UTC)
Ok fixed it. Now what about Family? Edit: The jutsu ask queries are kinda ugly since they look through each user to find the actual user then find the single media appearance. Simant (talk) 20:18, December 30, 2009 (UTC)
I see the simple ask query on Infobox:Sandbox for jutsu, however it doesn't seem to remove the media if the media matches the appears in media of the character, so (example) all guren's jutsu would say anime only next to them. Also, it doesn't seem to list media for * either. Also my workaround (using a switch statement) for not being able to use ! operator's effectively won't work with a single unmodified ask query. Movie/Game only characters

So that jutsu for movie and game characters appear i need to modify {{#switch:|Game|Movie=| .... so that the equal sign does not appear if {media} is movie or game only. I tried doing {{#switch:|Game|Movie{{#switch:{{MediaCleaner|{media}}}|Game|Movie=|}}|Yes Show}} but it returns true always... Simant (talk) 20:44, January 5, 2010 (UTC)

Fixed. Simant (talk) 06:07, January 8, 2010 (UTC)

Protection

Protection Level is a bit higher than I suggested, fix? Simant (talk) 21:36, January 15, 2010 (UTC)

Status

Could status be split out from age, allowing it to be elaborated upon (ie. "Deceased as of chapter x", "Presumed Deceased because I said so")?. ~SnapperTo 23:19, February 11, 2010 (UTC)

Sure. Easily. but erm, "because you said so"? I'll just put a chapter and episode box next to the deceased state for time of death. Simant (talk) 23:28, February 11, 2010 (UTC)
Sooo... anyone want this implemented? Simant (talk) 19:50, February 14, 2010 (UTC)

Akatsuki Ring

Is anyone particularly fond of, or cares if the akatsuki ring and ring position is removed from the infobox? I think being on the "team" (affiliation) page is good enough. - SimAnt 18:09, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

Not really. I just removed someone's edit (yours I think) because I noticed it had vanished, and since I saw nothing about not listing those in infoboxes anymore, I assumed it was a bug with the "edit with form". Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 21:26, June 17, 2010 (UTC)
What edit? *confused* - SimAnt 21:46, June 17, 2010 (UTC)
Kakuzu's infobox. Recently someone edited it, and it removed the Akatsuki ring part. I assumed someone edited it with the "edit with form" and it was deleted because of a bug. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 21:51, June 17, 2010 (UTC)
Well aside from it disappearing then, can you think of any reason why that type of info should be kept in the infobox? - SimAnt 21:54, June 17, 2010 (UTC)
Not really, I just like to keep things working, I see no problem in removing them from the infobox as long as there is proper discussion about it first. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 22:34, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

VA

I don't really want to fiddle with the code, so can someone have the voice actors be auto-linked to Wikipedia/anime wiki? ~SnapperTo 03:40, January 7, 2010 (UTC)

Done. Linked to wikipedia since animanga doesn't appear to have that many, (if any) voice actor articles yet. Simant (talk) 06:07, January 8, 2010 (UTC)
Orochimaru seems to take issue with more than one VA... ~SnapperTo 03:27, January 10, 2010 (UTC)

Spanish/French

Is there any particular need for us to include voice actors for a language besides the source language, and the language of the wikia? I really don't see the need to clutter the infobox with spanish and french VA. SimAnt 01:06, July 29, 2010 (UTC)

Family

Might the current difficulties with using semantics for relatives be a good opportunity to abandon it entirely? I seem to remember it has always been problematic and the manual listing of family members works just fine. ~SnapperTo 23:49, December 8, 2010 (UTC)

In about "9" days wikia is mediawiki and semantic mediawiki getting version upgrade. SimAnt 23:53, December 8, 2010 (UTC)
Which means things will be back to the way they were? ~SnapperTo 04:27, December 9, 2010 (UTC)
Maybe? SimAnt 05:46, December 9, 2010 (UTC)
