I have a question, why is there a spot to put the name AND a spot to put the name in english, isn't that redundant on ALL the Character pages since this is an ENGLISH wiki. Don't we put the same thing in both fields? Simant (talk) 17:30, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

The |name= controls the name shown in the header of the infobox, the |lang name= params control an individual language's representation in the box below the image. Some characters have not appeared in the English part of the series yet, and thus have no name (same goes for Jutsu), but they still need a name to display. For example, until the databook confirmed Pain's English name the English name was blank, and we had "Pein" in romaji and |name=. The |name= actually defaults to the pagename if you leave it blank, but even so there are pages where it's needed, sometimes you have an illegal character like #, or a page like Matsuri (Konoha) where (Konoha) shouldn't be part of the name. Also note that this is a generic infobox used on many different wiki. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Aug 26, 2009 @ 20:55 (UTC)
