Team Minato was a team that was headed by the future Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze. Kakashi Hatake, Obito Uchiha and Rin were the members of the team.
In Kakashi Gaiden, which was set during the Third Shinobi World War, the team went to Kusagakure to destroy the Kannabi Bridge to cut off supplies for Iwagakure ninja. Rin was captured by Iwagakure ninja during the mission. Kakashi and Obito rescued her but Obito was crushed by a cave-in caused by the Iwagakure ninja Kakkō. Obito gifted Kakashi his remaining Sharingan and tells them to flee, before the second cave-in seemingly killed him. However, in reality, Obito survived and became a twisted shell of his former self who committed horrible acts under the name of Madara Uchiha. One such action was the Nine-Tails' Attack on Konoha that claimed the life of Minato when he unknowingly battled his former pupil and sacrificed his own life to seal Kurama within Naruto. In time, Rin eventually died as well, leaving Kakashi to believe he was the last surviving member until meeting Obito face-to-face during the Fourth Shinobi World War.

- Team Minato makes a cameo before their actual introduction in chapter 122 and episode 72 in a Hiruzen Sarutobi's flashback.
