Team Guren is formed upon [[Orochimaru]]'s orders to capture the [[Three-Tailed Beast]]. They were chosen from the best of the initial twenty-one prisoners that survived a battle royal, which Guren had organised; sixteen of them tried to rebel afterwards, however, Guren killed them. Guren leads the remaining five and [[Yūkimaru]] on a mission to capture the beast. Their efforts are repeatedly interrupted by the shinobi from [[Konohagakure]]. After four of the members are killed and Guren realises that Orochimaru has little concern for her, she defects with Yūkimaru and Gozu.
