Team Dosu was one of two squads sent by Orochimaru to infiltrate the Chūnin Exams in Konoha. Whereas the other team disguised itself as Konoha ninja to spy on the participants, Team Dosu entered as Otogakure genin. Accordingly, all used sound-based jutsu. Orochimaru instructed them to kill Sasuke Uchiha, but he secretly did not expect them to succeed and intended them only to test Sasuke's abilities. Once Sasuke and his friends defeated them, Orochimaru lost interest in them, unconcerned with how they fare in the exams. Dosu was the only one to make it through the preliminaries, but was killed by Gaara for challenging him before the finals. Kin and Zaku were later used as sacrifices for Orochimaru's Summoning: Impure World Reincarnation.
