Chūnin Exams participation

How Dosu, Zaku and Kin were able to participate in chunnin exam? I mean their vilage is not really a village. And didn't third hokage knew that they were allies of Orochimaru because of their headband protector?Giotis (talk) 18:26, September 1, 2010 (UTC)

Where was it stated that this ain't no actual village but just a complex of labs, bases and hideouts? Because unless I'm mistaken, it was said that Oro convinced Daiymo of Land of Sound (then Land of Rice Fields) to allow him establish Otogakure. Why would he need to convince someone in order to make SECRET underground structures? Not to mention Orochimaru had at one point over 1000 Otogakure Jounin at his disposal, where do the uniforms, forehead protectors and all come from if it ain't no village?--Elve _[Mod] ^{Talk Page|Contribs} 19:47, February 22, 2015 (UTC)

Orochimaru saying that he convinced the Daiymo was from the Rice Paddies filler arc, and all we've seen of his "Otogakure" was underground tunnels. Maybe that's how he wanted to have a hidden village, just like how Takigakure required people to go through a door in a tree trunk to reach the village (based on the glanced scene in the Trap Master arc). --Sajuuk _[Mod] ^{talk | contribs | Channel} 11:06, February 23, 2015 (UTC)

Basically that. We know Otogakure exists in some fashion, but all we've seen of it was underground labs and hidden bases and not a centralized location. While there is no reason to assume Oto doesn't have a centralized village, there is more reason to believe it doesn't.--TheUltimate3 ^(talk) 11:51, February 23, 2015 (UTC)

Well the thing that occurs to me is that Oto got a team into the Chunin exams. Surely they'd have to have some official recognition to even get a team in the door and while a lot of the backstory is expanded on in the anime, surely it was confirmed that it is localised to the former land of Rice Fields. Since every other country involved with that Chunin exam are recognised as "Allied Nations" to the land of Fire, then it just seems logical that, even if it doesn't exist as a traditiional hidden village, that, until the nature of the village as a front for Orochimaru's experiments, it was an officially recognised ninja village. --Hawkeye2701 (talk) 17:42, February 23, 2015 (UTC)
