Manga image

Why do we have a manga image in the infobox? For all I can see, the difference is hair colour. This should just be mentioned in the appearance section or in the Trivia section, adding the manga image into the infobox seems pointless when an anime image is available and is also in use in the infobox. --Speysider Talk Page | My Image Uploads | Tabber Code | Channel 17:12, August 14, 2013 (UTC)

Eye colour and piercing colour are both wrong in the anime.--BeyondRed (talk) 17:56, August 14, 2013 (UTC)
.... and that can't just be mentioned in the Appearance section? Colouring differences are not even remotely valid to use in an argument over image use in the infobox. --Speysider Talk Page | My Image Uploads | Tabber Code | Channel 17:57, August 14, 2013 (UTC)
I agree with Speysider. We have images of her that are pretty good right now (like this one ). We could remove the image that's currently in the appearance section (of the three ame orphans. Not sure why it's in the appearance section) and add the infobox one as a replacement. Joshbl56 20:15, August 14, 2013 (UTC)
As long as there are many differences between the manga and anime images. We shouldn't do that and the differences could be written in the article probably. 20:26, August 14, 2013 (UTC)
Since we have difference opinions on this, I say we wait for this discussion decide the fate of the infobox picture. It would save us a lot of time from debating since the conversation over there has turned to Anime vs. Manga. Joshbl56 20:38, August 14, 2013 (UTC)

This is what I was talking about in the above linked article when it comes to images.--TheUltimate3 Allied Shinobi Forces Symbol (talk) 21:44, August 14, 2013 (UTC)

As far as I can tell, the only thing of significant difference in the image is her eye color. The piercing is in the same place and everything. If people are really that anal about the shade of blue used to color her hair, I'd just say get over it, or mention it in the Appearance section. That's no reason to have two infobox images. An example of something that needs a manga image and an anime image, is if Konan had been introduced with a giant green horn sticking out of her head. Eye color isn't that big a deal. ~ Ten Tailed Fox Yamagakure Symbol 22:54, August 14, 2013 (UTC)
What TTF said. Apparently the only reason the manga image is still here is because Suki-sensei was pretty anal about it, who really cares if someone's hair colour is different?? If the character does everything else the same, hair colour means nothing: check the archives for more. --Speysider Talk Page | My Image Uploads | Tabber Code | Channel 13:55, August 15, 2013 (UTC)

The whole point of us ever having two images in the infobox was because we're anal about what they look like. Konan has a manga image because her eyes are wrong, A and B's hair are coloured wrong, Ko's nose is wrong, Motoi's dad hair is depicted wrong. It's never a large thing that cause us to keep manga images it comes down to accuracy. In those cases if anything was to be disregarded it's the anime image, not the other way around.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol(talk) 15:29, August 15, 2013 (UTC)

Actually, according to the Image policy, Cerez, anime images are preferred over the manga images. That's a fact. ~ Ten Tailed Fox Yamagakure Symbol 17:52, August 15, 2013 (UTC)
I think we don't need the pictures of the ame orphans in the appearance they're even on nagato's appearance section I've just added a good close up a user uploaded that was really good and clear and I put that on the appearance section, we do have good images of them individually so we should start adding them --Root 11:19, August 16, 2013 (UTC)
Since the consensus of the forum topic linked previously seems to be set, I'm bringing this back up again. Should the manga image be moved out of the infobox and down to the appearance section ? --Speysider Talk Page | My Image Uploads | Tabber Code | Channel 21:19, August 31, 2013 (UTC)

Manga Image - Take 2

Reviving the discussion above. Not really sure why we need a manga image in the infobox when the anime image is perfectly fine. Any slight colouring differences can be stated in the trivia section and the manga image can go in the appearance section. --SuperSajuuk Talk Page | My Image Uploads | Tabber Code | Channel 18:36, July 27, 2014 (UTC)

I agree the manga pic is better off in the appearance section, Ōnoki page has the same issue too.(Kuroiraikou (talk) 19:09, July 27, 2014 (UTC))
I agree as well. Can't see any reason why it has to be in the infobox. --Kasan94 Nara Symbol Talkpage 19:52, July 27, 2014 (UTC)
I agree with the removal of the manga image. There are no non-trivial differences; it should be moved. Yuri Bara Talk 20:15, July 28, 2014 (UTC)
And I'll be number five. I don't see the need for them. Get rid of them. ~ Ten Tailed Fox Rinnegan Sasuke 21:05, July 28, 2014 (UTC)

"As an adult, she was highly praised by her former teacher Jiraiya for her prowess. Also, the fact that she defeated Sasori, an extremely powerful shinobi who wielded his most powerful puppet, speaks further of her prowess in battle."

when did she fight Sasori and his puppet "Third Kazekage" ? they were both in Akatsuki, so why would they fight? Is this an error?

That happened in some OVA in some video game, I think. Iloveinoxxx (talk) 15:28, October 3, 2014 (UTC)

it happened here... Naruto Shippūden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution OVA Munchvtec (talk) 16:01, October 3, 2014 (UTC)

but we count this as filler. Munchvtec (talk) 16:02, October 3, 2014 (UTC)

That stuff shouldn't be there in my opinion.--Elve [Mod] Talk Page|Contribs 17:53, October 3, 2014 (UTC)

Why not? Djfghdfe53475zdhdf (talk) 17:54, October 3, 2014 (UTC)
We've counted the OVA's as anime content in the past (Hashirama and Madara's fight for example, until manga content contradicted it, like all other anime content) so it stays. The end. Move on to other matters. ~ Ten Tailed Fox Rinnegan Sasuke 17:55, October 3, 2014 (UTC)
So we are counting the OVA is anime content this time yes? Because I was under the impression we were not due to major holes in the timeline.--TheUltimate3 Eye of Rikudō (talk) 18:01, October 3, 2014 (UTC)
The Hashirama vs Madara one hardly contradicted anything. These ones on the other hand, contradict not only the manga, but the anime episodes as well. So you want it there because it's anime stuff, even though it contradicts anime stuff? Which Danzo vs Shisui is canon, as shown by the filler episode or the OVA?--Elve [Mod] Talk Page|Contribs 18:09, October 3, 2014 (UTC)

Bizarre Elements

This page, like many other character pages I've been seeing, have a completely out of place list of elements for jutsu that the character is never shown using, have no citations, no jutsu listed that use such, and we don't appear to even be distinguishing between anime only or not anymore.

When was Konan EVER shown using wind, water, or earth? Looking at her jutsu list NONE of them use ANY of these elements. Yang? She was stated to use that? If not, are we substituting speculation in place of facts now? Until it can be proven that she canonically used Wind, Water, Earth, or Yang jutsu, these should be removed. If they're only in anime or video games, they should be labelled appropriately. I'm going to have to go around to a bunch of other character pages with a similar message now, because... Kakashi never uses Wind at all, and he only uses Fire in the anime, and yet he's listed as using all six elements for some reason. Same for Orochimaru, who is never shown using Lightning, Fire, Water, Wood, or Yang (I'm assuming Yin is supposed to represent Genjutsu), and yet has all elements+wood. Jiraiya never uses Wind and explicitly doesn't use Genjutsu, but has Wind and Yin Chakra Natures.

Is there a central location to report this kind of thing or do I actually have to go around to every page I find with weird elements and post about this? :/

Suzuchiha (talk) 20:35, January 10, 2016 (UTC)

These elements were revealed in the Fourth Databook, so they are canon.--JouXIII (talk) 20:41, January 10, 2016 (UTC)
Even though there's no in-series evidence, and they have no jutsu that use them in canon? Okay. Thanks. Mystery resolved! Suzuchiha (talk) 21:40, January 10, 2016 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Her fourth databook profile. Several characters were informed to have elements there. If you bothered to read the rest of the article instead of just her infobox, you'd see there's literally a section called "nature transformation", with a reference to the specific pages. Same applies to many of the other cases you think are discrepancies. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 20:44, January 10, 2016 (UTC)
Okay, so it's stated in a book but it's never shown or indicated anywhere in the series itself, and it directly contradicts what's shown and established in the canon series, but it's the secondary sources that are treated as more legitimate. Whatever, I guess. Though, Omnibender, while I appreciate the answer, please try not to be so condescending. Just because someone wrote that someone uses something in a section doesn't inherently mean it's true. I DID "bother" to read those sections. But when someone has literally ZERO techniques that use a given element or are only ever shown using it in filler, and the only supposed evidence is outside information that doesn't match the series, it is entirely logical to wonder what's going on. It's a discrepancy between what's said in databooks (which have been wrong before) and what's actually shown and stated in the real legitimate series. That's a pretty big discrepancy. You can explain without being rude about it. Like, it's specifically stated that it's "unheard of" for someone to have all six Chakra Natures unless they have the Rinnengan pretty early on, and Kakashi is only shown using Water, Earth, and Lightning in all canon sources, but because a book says he's a Rinnegan-user without a Rinnegan, now it's true? And you don't think that sounds fishy enough for someone to ask questions? Seriously. Suzuchiha (talk) 21:40, January 10, 2016 (UTC)
It doesn't contradict anything at all. Just because some characters weren't shown using a particular elemental jutsu, it doesn't mean they already aren't capable of using the natures at all. Rather, it would be so by default IF there were no databooks. Fortunately, we have them, thus we have more info which complements the info given in manga. "Someone" who wrote it is Kishimoto himself, he must actually know what he writes. Yeah, there always are some errors in Databook info, yet Kishi is also a human, it's only natural to make mistakes. But not here, cause there's no contradiction. For example, in the Databook only Madara is listed as the user of Perfect Susanoo > the manga events prove it wrong (Sasuke's, Kakashi's, Indra's use) > an obvious error. However, you can't find a condradiction when there's no contradicting material even shown. Besides, anime stuff is less cannon than manga OR the Databooks' info, and it often contradicts not only them, but even some previous anime statements as well, and the one about inability to master all 5 natures comes exactly from there (never stated in the manga though). There's nothing in the Databook implying that Kakashi is a Rinnegan user, albeit he's listed as the user of all 5 natures. Even in anime it was already shown that one person is able to master 5 elements without any enhancements (Hiruzen using this), so the statement about inability to do so is proven wrong even there.
