Jūgo's Natural Energy Absorption[]
While the topic of Kabuto's Sage Mode/Transformation is still relevant, it's worth noting that chapter 579 (going by Viz's translation, at least) doesn't say anything about Kabuto having Jūgo's ability to passively absorb natural energy. When Jūgo gets brought up, Sasuke asks Kabuto if he has acquired his abilities or a cursed seal. Kabuto says no, he actually mastered "that power" by himself. He later explains that Jūgo's clan absorbs natural energy and it's the source of their outbursts, but again he never says that he has that ability. In fact, the only implication he even has Jūgo's DNA comes five chapters later, when him and Kimimaro are included in the montage of Kabuto injecting himself with blood. Did Viz miss something in their translation or have we just assumed that Kabuto has that power all this time without proof?--BeyondRed (talk) 07:32, April 25, 2016 (UTC)
- Considering that Jugo states that Kabuto's power is same as his, Jugo being shown in the blood juice scene etc. it's quite clear. Not to mention Jugo is also included with Suigetsu and Karin when Kabuto says he got their powers.--Elve [Mod] Talk Page|Contribs 10:59, April 25, 2016 (UTC)
- Kabuto doesn't say he got Suigetsu and Karin's powers from their DNA though. He just says he developed imitations of them by researching the two of them (much like his vague statement that he revived Sasuke using his "research" on Hashirama's cells). He definitely has Jūgo's DNA, that much is obvious, but does that mean he automatically has Jūgo's natural energy absorption ability as well? Technically, Sasuke has Jūgo's DNA in him too, but he doesn't display anything like that. Jūgo says Kabuto is also using Senninka, but supposedly that originated at Ryūchi Cave somehow, so it's not entirely out of the question Kabuto got his Senninka there too. Basically, Kabuto's exposition in that chapter is kind of vague (at least in English), and unfortunately it's all we have to go on right now since the databook just repeats it with slightly different phrasing.--BeyondRed (talk) 11:14, April 25, 2016 (UTC)
Parts I-II image[]
I uploaded a new image. I'm proposing we change his current image to that one because its of good quality and focuses on him, not having another person in the picture too. --Rai 水 (talk) 04:52, May 9, 2016 (UTC)
Kabuto genin timeline.[]
The current background on the page states that Kabuto used Orochimaru's cover story to become a genin in Konoha. However, this does not match the timeline. Jin no Sho page 193 states that Kabuto was inducted into the Konoha Orphanage 18 years before Part II, when he was 24 (24-18=6). In Chapter 583, page 8, panel 5, Urushi states that Kabuto has been in the orphanage for three years, so he would be 9 at this point, when he joins Root. Also in chapter 583, page 10, panel 6, Kabuto states it has been five years since he left the orphanage, meaning he would be 14. Rin no Sho page 128 states Kabuto became a genin at age 10.
I recognize that Kabuto's backstory is partially fabricated, but does that mean the databook is also giving false information for his statistics itself?
Orochimaru himself, when telling Kabuto his new backstory, does not mention how Kabuto shall take part in Konoha, or if he would be a genin or not. I find it more likely that Kabuto gained genin status whilst working for Root, and Orochimaru simply altered his records to add his "new" family name and the like.
Kabuto did begin taking part in exams after joining with Orochimaru, but I recommend the "becoming genin" portion be edited out.

Databooks are only correct up to the point of the story they cover, and thus are subject to retcons from later chapters and databooks. Also, Kishimoto kinda sucks at math because if you make a strict analysis of databooks, a lot of the older generation supporting Konoha characters have no way of being class mates when you put their promotion and graduation ages against one another. So it is effectively unknown when Kabuto actually graduated? Arcadia warlic (talk) 09:16, 5 February 2022 (UTC)
Affiliations[]
Shouldn't Kabuto have Iwa, Suna, Kiri, and Kumo in his affiliations section of the Infobox, since it was stated that Kabuto was a spy for each village at different periods in time? I mean, Kabuto acted as a spy within Konohagakure, and the village is listed there. So, shouldn't the villages be added, too? HygorBohmHubner (talk) 05:11, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
