Puppet Technique

Isn't it the same thing? Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 01:23, March 7, 2010 (UTC)

No, the Puppet technique is the technique of using and controlling puppets. Chakra strings are what they use to control the puppets. Think of it like this; you wouldn't call the gun same thing as hunting would you? ¥ Super Novice Talk 2 Me ¥ 01:26, March 7, 2010 (UTC)
In the Puppet Technique page, it says it can be used on things other than puppets, like Kankurō tripping Naruto. It makes it seem as if the name of technique is due its most common application, not what it actually is. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 01:30, March 7, 2010 (UTC)
Hmm, it seems to me since the page hadn't been created at the time some of the information that's in Puppet should be with Chakra strings as their is a difference between the two even though one is used to make the other but not Vice-versa. ¥ Super Novice Talk 2 Me ¥ 01:33, March 7, 2010 (UTC)

I know this is an old topic but I agree with Omni, I don't see how this isn't Puppet Technique. The chakra strings were created to control puppets. The puppets are just a tool, making and using the strings are the technique. I don't know how it was addressed in the databooks but if it wasn't treated as a separate thing, should we? Arrancar79 (talk) 04:07, July 15, 2011 (UTC)

Any thoughts? Arrancar79 (talk) 06:00, July 16, 2011 (UTC)
I don't quite agree with that argument. Kunai are tools, but Chiyo still used chakra string to manipulate them, and that wasn't the Puppet Technique. Considering that the term has appeared in the manga, and that there's at least one canon technique which is non-Puppet Technique, I sort of understand and agree about the point of this page, though I'm not very passionate about it. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 06:09, July 16, 2011 (UTC)
But wasn't that Manipulating Attack Blades with chakra strings attached to sneak them onto Hiruko? Arrancar79 (talk) 06:24, July 16, 2011 (UTC)
By the databook, it seems that the technique uses chakra strings. Yashamaru is also listed as a chakra thread user, don't know why the page says he simply hovers them with chakra. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 06:28, July 16, 2011 (UTC)
That's good to know hope that gets added but I guess what I'm saying is this seems more like a skill than a jutsu. That may not be the best way to put it but it seems wrong/out of place some how. Arrancar79 (talk) 06:36, July 16, 2011 (UTC)

Fūma clan

Should we bring up the chakra strings used by the Fūma clan? Jacce | Talk 13:52, March 7, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah i saw that jutsu, Chakra Threads, I'm thinking yes but not completely sure if it's the right thing to do. The chakra 'strings' used in that jutsu are near identical to the one used for puppets only it's starting at the heart instead of one's fingers; Sasori however has shown us that the Strings don't need to start from your hand to still work. ¥ Super Novice Talk 2 Me ¥ 16:33, March 7, 2010 (UTC)

Moving objects

One thing I would like to add, but is a tad awkard, is how the strings not only pull things (like expected with any strings), but they also push objects forward, as seen from how the puppets advance forward. Thomas Finlayson (talk) 20:21, September 6, 2010 (UTC)

I see what you mean by the puppet's ability to move foward, but I think it works more like a fishing line than anything else. What I mean is that the strings & puppet atttached are both whipped forward like casting the line. --RinneganLov63 (talk) 20:29, October 5, 2010 (UTC)

I know that this is a mid-range jutsu, but I would like to point out how Chiyo needed to do this to get her strings to Sasori. When Sasori and Chiyo used their puppets, they also extended past 10m, so I would like to clarify by saying it can only be "created" at mid-range, but can be "extended" past that into long-range so long as the strings are not blocked and the puppet is still visible.

For some range references: (Sakura is 1.61m tall) [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] Thomas Finlayson (talk) 02:21, October 2, 2010 (UTC)

Where did the strings extend beyond 10 metres? Could you show a page? —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 13:20, October 2, 2010 (UTC)
When Chiyo had those kunai against the tail, Sakura as she was being controlled/directed, and [8], [9], [10], [11], [12], [13], and [14] (though this last one can be argued on, due to his augmented state). Thomas Finlayson (talk) 04:11, October 3, 2010 (UTC)
None of those instances look clearly over ten metres to me. In fact, most of them don't even look near ten metres to me. The only exceptions would be where Red Secret Technique: Performance of a Hundred Puppets and White Secret Technique: Ten Puppet Collection of Chikamatsu are used, both of which are marked all distances. —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 11:58, October 3, 2010 (UTC)
I know that distance has proven to be a problem in the past (and thanks for the tip on the those Secret Techniques, I had not looked into them), I thought that Sakura as a reference at 1.61m tall/long (so 6.21118012 of her) would make it clearer. For instance when Chiyo got that string on Sasori's tail (yes, that is my main one, but that is also what inspired this idea), the Mother and Father reaching the 3rd Kazekage, etc. Does this change your opinion? Thomas Finlayson (talk) 01:01, October 5, 2010 (UTC)
Not really. None of those distances look like they're clearly over 10 metres, or even near it most of the time. I have a feeling you're not taking into account angles and perspective. —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 10:31, October 5, 2010 (UTC)
I do not agree with you on this, but I will let it go for now since we are not getting very far. If I come up with something new I will probably revisit this later though. Tell then. Thomas Finlayson (talk) 21:45, October 5, 2010 (UTC)

We should add Tenten as a user, she was using the technique in her fight against temari (episode 43)! Norleon (talk) 20:39, February 17, 2012 (UTC)

Those weren't chakra threads, those were Wire Strings, which she is already listed as a user. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 21:08, February 17, 2012 (UTC)
so what now? can tenten use them?? (talk) 11:31, March 6, 2013 (UTC)
Not shown, not mentioned, not listed. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 22:52, March 6, 2013 (UTC)

General Skill

This should be added to the general skill page ( ) As it appears in the manga but is unnamed or even mentioned in the data books. Kurate (talk) 14:36, November 8, 2013 (UTC)

It isn't a general skill though.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol(talk) 14:47, November 8, 2013 (UTC)
Then we need a new page for additional skill's then. For those techniques that show up in the manga that the three data books ignored like Chakra Threads and Chakra absorption.
The reason I said use general skill is that both Killing Intent and Silent Killing are in the General Skill listing even though neither are called that in the data books.
Also Chakra Threads are not called nor even mentioned in the data books at all so why is calling them a Ninjutsu any more accurate than calling them a general skill?

Kurate (talk) 15:18, November 8, 2013 (UTC)

Chakra Threads are only used by puppeteers. As such, they are not general. Also you don't need to drag this out to two different pages. And finally, what possible page could be made for these two articles...considering how articles already exist?--TheUltimate3 Allied Shinobi Forces Symbol (talk) 15:21, November 8, 2013 (UTC)

Not a specific page but a list page for those abilities that don't confirm to existing groupings. Kurate (talk) 15:25, November 8, 2013 (UTC)

That is a useless categorisation in my opinion. I dare say the editors here have enough sense to at least categorise techniques hitherto mentioned in a databook.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol(talk) 16:20, November 8, 2013 (UTC)

Why is it a useless categorization? the abilities not mentioned in data books have no group listings at all. Kurate (talk) 16:32, November 8, 2013 (UTC)

...Because chakra threads are found [here]?--TheUltimate3 Allied Shinobi Forces Symbol (talk) 16:45, November 8, 2013 (UTC)

Fū noted to have used Chakra Threads, but they appear to be insect-based, unlike the regular ones, like a net or a Cocoon. Should we just stick with this or create a variation of her use, like with this?--Omojuze (talk) 11:59, May 14, 2015 (UTC)

I think we should add a variants section to this article and merge it with the fuma clans version of the chakra threads and fu's version. If this doesn't get done then just make a new page for Fu's version. Munchvtec (talk) 12:35, May 14, 2015 (UTC)
Also, her threads having healing properties is another sign of an entirely different technique.--Omojuze (talk) 17:07, May 14, 2015 (UTC)
I don't recall her stating that the Chakra Threads she used had a healing ability. Unless I missed it of course. But I would prefer just creating a merged page with a variants section, instead of creating a subpage. --Sajuuk [Mod] talk | contribs | Channel 17:09, May 14, 2015 (UTC)
She didn't but something had to cause the healing effect. Best guess is the net (or the threads from which the net was made of).--Omojuze (talk) 17:10, May 14, 2015 (UTC)
