By having his fire and wind masks merge or himself merge with them, Kakuzu has both masks use their signature elemental technique and combines their attacks, creating a powerful blast of fire. Kakashi remarked that water alone wasn't enough to put it out.[1] It took the effort of a wind combined water technique to fully counter it.[1]
