The stone tablet is a monument which was created by Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki in order to discourage his sons descendants from attempting to recreate the Rinnegan.[1] The tablet can only be deciphered fully by the Rinnegan, while the Sharingan and Mangekyō Sharingan are only able to partially decipher it.

Sometime after Hagoromo's death, certain facts and details on the tablet were forged by Kaguya Ōtsutsuki's will, Black Zetsu.[2] The tablet eventually fell into the possession of the Uchiha Clan, where is was secretly keep'd in the Naka Shrine in Konohagakure.
