A mask is the image of the Shinigami's face. It resides in the abandoned Uzumaki Clan's Mask Temple in the outskirts of Konohagakure, along with twenty-six similar-looking masks. It allows the one who wears it to call forth the Shinigami by possessing the wearer. The user can then make the the Shinigami perform seppuku, which releases the souls sealed within it, but in turn causing the same damage to the user. Orochimaru has used it to release his own arm's souls, as well as the souls of the four previous Hokage, whom he proceeded to reincarnate, this usually requires the user to sacrifice themselves but Orochimaru had a method to escape this fate.
