The Second Division (第二部隊, Daini Butai) of the Allied Shinobi Forces. Also known as the Short-Range Battle Division (戦闘近距離部隊, Sentō Kinkyori Butai).

History

With the separation of the Great Battle Regiment into five distinct detachments, those in the Second Division gather together in a linear formation and begin to converse amongst themselves, where a nervous Hinata Hyūga is contrasted by an equally casual Karui, while Kurotsuchi wonders why her own father is their respective Commander.[1] As the diverse company stands idle, two of its members begin to quarrel over their past differences, forcing Gaara to intervene before the confrontation escalates. Fortunately, the Regimental Commander's subsequent heartfelt speech subdues the immediate issue and with its conclusion, the entirety of the Allied Shinobi Forces finally begins to manoeuvre into their respective positions in preparation for battle.[2]

The Second Division of the Allied Shinobi Forces launches a decisive strike against the White Zetsu Army.

After the Second Division establishes itself near the northern edge of the Land of Lightning's peninsula, the Intelligence Division notifies them of the approaching White Zetsu Army, currently moving deep underground. A small fraction of the Fifth Division arrives in support of the greatly outnumbered company, just as Kitsuchi and Kurotsuchi proceed to unearth a substantial quantity of the Zetsu clones, before immediately conducting a joint assault that decimates a large amount of the exposed adversaries.[3] However, as a seemingly unending number of durable clones continue to emerge, the conflict quickly descends into one of attrition, tiring much of the Allied Shinobi Forces due to the continual draining of their chakra. Headquarters then manages to contact Kitsuchi, informing the weary Commander that several thousand more of the monstrosities have successfully bypassed them, advancing without hindrance beneath their feet.[4]

Informed of Shikaku Nara's revised strategy that better reflects the confrontations current developments, again by Inoichi Yamanaka's Intelligence Division, it is intended that part of the Second Division will move northeasterly towards the coast in order to approach the First Division's enemies from behind.[5] Notified of these significant deviations from their preliminary tactics, Kitsuchi acts accordingly, while the remainder of his tired division continue to persevere with the relentless assault.[6]

Arriving in support of the overwhelmed division via the ocean, Kitsuchi and Kurotsuchi accompanied by a considerable portion of their own unit, combine their efforts in the engagement with separate detachments from both the Fourth and Fifth Divisions. Kitsuchi then manages to land a solid punch against a six-tailed Kinkaku, saving Darui in the process.[7]
