The Scroll of Seals (封印の書, Fūin no Sho) is a scroll containing many techniques, such as the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique and the Eight Trigrams Sealing Style.[1] Because of the dangerous techniques it contains, the scroll was sealed away by the First Hokage, Hashirama Senju.

After failing his graduation exam, Naruto Uzumaki was tricked by Mizuki into stealing the scroll from the Hokage Residence, stating that if Naruto can learn one technique within it, he would be allowed to graduate (which in the end, turned out to be true ironically). What Mizuki truly desired was to take the scroll and had Naruto become a scapegoat for the crime.

Trivia

  • In the manga, Mizuki stated that he wanted the scroll for himself for power, but in the anime extension arc, it was stated that he intended to give the scroll to his master, Orochimaru.
    • In the anime, Tsunade claimed that a mere chūnin such as Mizuki would not have been able to do anything with the Scroll of Seals by himself, and it would make more sense if someone of Orochimaru's calibre was behind him stealing it.[2]
