Gaara creates a copy of himself out of sand, although it lacks color and is immediately recognizable as sand. This means that it is almost useless as a decoy. Unlike most bunshinjutsu, the clone still retains its shape after it is struck, and can even ensnare whatever comes into contact with it.

In the anime, Sasori used a Sand Clone as a body replacement in order to avoid Kankuro's Black Secret Technique Machine One Shot, although it dissolved once hit.
