Sajin (サジン, Sajin) is a shinobi from Sunagakure and a team-mate of Mujin and Mijin.

Personality

Sajin is rather disdainful, given his silent belittlement of the actions of the other potential chūnin. He also seems to hold a grudge against shinobi from the Hyūga clan, being visibly annoyed by being in their presence and frequently scowling at them, showing great anger while doing so. He would also go to great lengths to pass the Chūnin Exams, even sacrificing one of his own team-mate. This would, however, result in his team's disqualification, as no comrade should be sacrificed.

Appearance

Sajin has long brown hair with two bangs falling out over his forehead protector, thus framing his face. He has an orange line running across the bridge of his nose. In terms of attire he wears a yellow scarf around his neck, a dark shirt with a grey triangular pattern and beige shorts. He also wears bandages around his lower-legs and arms, along with black fingerless-gloves.

Abilities

Chakra Enhanced Strength

Sajin delivers a swift kick to the wall.

Sajin is capable of creating letters out of sand, which can be used to contact his allies. Similar to the Hyūga clan's Gentle Fist-style of taijutsu, Sajin is able to fight with chakra-infused strikes to enhance his blows.

Sand Characters

Sajin tells his team-mates what questions to answer.

Shortly after Gaara was made the Fifth Kazekage, an early Chūnin Exams was decided to be hosted between Sunagakure and Konohagakure as a joined effort to promote Gaara's new status and help their allies in Konohagakure restore their reputation from the ruined previous exams. Sajin and his team-mates soon went to Konohagakure where the first exams would be held. Uniquely for the first exam, the written test was designed to separate each team by having their respective members take it in different rooms. As the proctor, Shikamaru Nara explained that the respective teams must score exactly 100 points to pass by having each member only answer one of three questions with different worth, the test-takers began to panic on how to go about this. Sajin however calmly performed his Sand Characters technique on the sand outside to tell his team-mates what question they should each take.[1]

Neji soon realised a simple way for everyone to pass. He suggested they strike at the wall to simply let the vibrations tell their team-mates which question to answer. Sajin offered to do it himself but once doing so, added an extra strike to ruin the plan, insisting on making everyone else fail as he already answered the question with his own team-mates. As he mocked Neji for the situation, Neji remained unfazed, noting that due to the nature of the math here, the others would still know which question to answer. While an irritated Sajin was ready to fight, Neji reminded him of the rule for no fighting in this exam.

After everyone answered and time was up, Shikamaru revealed as second question. He asked who the team would sacrifice in a situation that requires a decoy, noting that the answer has to be unanimous to pass. With his Sand Characters, Sajin told his team to chose Mijin. Later, Sajin and Mujin were shocked to find that many of the other passing ninja were still with their full team. Neji explain that the second question was a trick to test the team's group loyalty; everyone was there because they chose no one. Temari as another proctor then explained all teams without all three members who were immediately disqualified.[2]

Trivia

  • "Sa" () means "sand" and "jin" () means "compassion".
