Sabu (サブ) is an enka ninja music master. He apparently has a large raccoon named Ponta, as a pet. Killer Bee calls him Sabu-chan (サブちゃん) and later the oddly constructed Master Sabu-chan (サブちゃん師匠, Sabu-chan-shishō). In the anime, Sabu's name was changed to Kin (キン, Kin) for reasons unknown.

Appearance

Sabu is a short, middle aged man. He wears a cream-coloured robe adorned with a purple belt and two purple fuzzy balls hanging in the front. He also appears to wear a purple garment underneath the robe and has a mesh shirt under his robe as well. He has dark brown hair which is done in a traditional Japanese manner, but with a punch perm bun on top of his head. He wields a very large axe.

Abilities

Sabu is shown to possess immense strength from the size of the axe that he wields. He is also highly observant as displayed when he witnessed the fight between Killer Bee and Kisame Hoshigaki. Despite this, he has yet to display any specific jutsu.

Part II

Five Kage Summit Arc

Sabu attacks Kisame.

Sabu is introduced while teaching Killer Bee to show more passion in his singing. Kisame arrives during their practice to capture Killer Bee, and Ponta immediately charges at him. As soon as Ponta is defeated Sabu prepares to battle. Kisame runs towards him but is distracted by Killer Bee, giving Sabu a chance to strike. Killer Bee attacks too, but Kisame blocks both attacks with his Samehada, but obtains a minor injury in his left shoulder by one of Killer Bee's katana. When Killer Bee begins to transform, Sabu sees that Samehada is absorbing all of his chakra. Sabu stood back while Killer Bee continued his fight with Kisame. Seeing Killer Bee losing to Kisame, Sabu rushes to his aid only to see Kisame's decapitated head fall in front of him and that Killer Bee and his brother had killed him, though it was later discovered to be Zetsu instead.

Trivia

• Sabu-chan (サブちゃん) is the nickname of Japan's most famous enka singer, Saburō Kitajima. Sabu is also the spitting image of Saburō Kitajima.
• Sabu's eyes and eyebrows are similar to Rock Lee.
• Despite him being a supporting character, he has been featured on a chapter cover along with Naruto Uzumaki, Killer Bee, and Kisame.
