The Pure Land (浄土, Jōdo) is the afterlife in which the souls of earthly beings generally reside in death. Seemingly, those who died by means such as suicide go to some sort of limbo, where they reside until they have forgiven and have been forgiven. Only then can they pass on to the pure land, free of regrets from their earthly existence. Souls that have been sealed, such as by the Dead Demon Consuming Seal, cannot enter the Pure Land until the seal has been released.
