Summary
The reborn Team Kakashi is sent out on a mission by Tsunade to a location known as "The Hole" to investigate an incident where its people were killed and graves robbed of the bodies. Regretting that she could not assign more people to the mission because of recent incidents elsewhere, the team sets out nonetheless. While there, they split up into two man teams, with Yamato and Sai encountering officers from the neighbouring Hachō Village where Shiseru and her team, after finding out who the Konoha shinobi were, escorts them to their village leader Disonasu. Elsewhere, Sakura and Naruto, who are at The Hole's water reservoir/lake, encounter Kabuto Yakushi who reveals that he had reconstructed Hidan and reincarnated several shinobi, and uses the water of The Hole to perfect his hold over all his resurected shinobi corpses. Kabuto's inner monologue suggests that he is not in full control of all the dead shinobi in his posession. As a fight ensues, between the two sides as Yamato and Sai rejoin with their team-mates, a flashback of the destruction of the village shows the reincarnated shinobi as the cause. The flashback ends with two young children, Leo and Minna, being rescued by their teacher Dokku and escaping with a few survivors.
Trivia
- There are a few errors in this episode:
- One of the unnamed shinobi Kabuto summons wears the standard Konohagakure flak jacket, but has a Takigakure forehead protector.
- Despite the fact that Yūgao Uzuki retrieved Hayate Gekkō's sword from where his corpse was found, the reincarnated Konoha shinobi is seen wielding the blade in this episode.
