"Night of Blood…!!" (血の夜…!!, Chi no Yoru…!!, Viz: Blood Night…!!) is chapter 539 of the original Naruto manga.

Summary

The Nine-Tails recalls Naruto's growth. Naruto says he'll do something about the Nine-Tails' hatred as well, one day. In turn, the Nine-Tails reproaches him for thinking he can do it. In the battlefield, Neji collapses from overuse of the Byakugan; so, Kiba has him go to the medical unit. Nagato and Itachi talk about Akatsuki, their dōjutsu and what their summoner has in mind for them. Itachi states that the combination of his Mangekyō Sharingan, coupled with Nagato's Rinnegan could be almost unstoppable. At the Logistical Support and Medical Division, medical-nin heal the wounded. Three jōnin-level medical-nin are later found dead. The sensors say they have not detected the enemy, and suspicion arises that someone is being controlled. Sakura argues that despite that, they must keep healing the shinobi. Neji opts to find the spy. Sakura receives a love letter from another shinobi but tells him she has feelings for someone else. Two medical-nin are later seen preparing to get back to work, but Neji then reveals himself as the killer. He attacks and presumably kills the two medical-nin.

-After [[Naruto]]'s proclamation, the [[Nine-Tailed Demon Fox]] has a flashback of Naruto growing up and comments that he had finally learned to stand up. Naruto then tells the beast that he was planning on doing something about it's own hatred. The Nine-Tails indignantly reproaches Naruto saying there's no way he would be able to do that. Nevertheless, Naruto says he'd like to try as he leaves. Elsewhere Neji collapses from the exhaustion of using his [[Byakugan]] for such a long period of time. [[Kiba]] tells him to visit the medical unit and rest as he could still use his sense of smell to detect enemies. As [[Nagato]] aided by [[Itachi]] walk through a forest the two have a conversation about [[Akatsuki]], their ocular abilities and what their [[Kabuto|summoner]] had planned for them because of it. Meanwhile the [[Logistical Support and Medical Division]] compound is bustling with meical-nin healing and aiding wounded shinobi. Three of the [[jōnin]]-level med-nins are later found dead and the others conclude that a spy must've slipped into the compound even with the stringent security measures they had put in place with each persons' chakra being checked and verified with headquarters before entrance into the compound. [[Sakura]] however tells them that this cannot deter them from their tasks and [[Neji]] opts to find the spy. As Sakura returns to the barracks she is approached by a shinobi with a love letter for her, she accepts the latter thanking him but tells him there is someone else that she loves. Later as two medical nins prepare to begin their rounds again, they are attacked and killed by someone bearing the exact appearance of Neji.
