With this jutsu, Jiraiya's hair will grow in length to surround and protect his body. In this form, it also becomes rigid and spiked, in a manner similar to a hedgehog's or porcupine's quills, forming a layer of protection from direct strikes, and blows from certain types of weapons such as arrows. Due to Jiraiya being drugged, the jutsu was not demonstrated to its full potential the first time it was used.
[edit] Name
Jizō (地蔵) is the Japanese name of the Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha. He is considered to be the guardian of children and travelers and the savior of those who have to suffer in the underworld.
